Love Roberts as a Bomber. Silk
Agree and if my Lions needed more midfield depth, would have loved to snare Roberts.

But oh well, can't have all the best midfielders at one club and hopefully he goes well at the Bombers.

Just gotta settle for Ashcroft 2.0 and Marshall coming in this year ;)

I look at that and you see Tauru at P12 and think. If North (assuming they are actually hot on him) would have to be on that phone to Melbourne trying to do a deal.

What do North have to offer Dees at that pick? It’s hardly likely there F1 will be better than the Dees F1 which is what they used to actually get that pick.

Said on here months ago I rate Jack Whitlock high and not that keen on Armstrong. Interesting to see that will likely come true tonight

Think that's what I'm thinking too but then at the same time, maybe he could replace May in 2-3 years time with Lever being the number 1 KPD at the club.
And what would your thoughts be on trading that pick for Norths F!?
Depends on what Melbourne think of the upcoming talent in the draft next year as I really don't know much about the 2025 crop other than the Lions academy player in Annable being a first round calculation for us.

What I will say though is North Melbourne definitely needs to invest in more young players outside of the midfield and if they can find a way to get back into the draft to nab Taura tonight, would do that in a heartbeat.

Crows did with Ugle-Hagen
Ugle-Hagen was the clear number one, Levi is not, nor was Daicos, while Giants traded up specifically for Cadman so can understand why they didn't bid on Will. Daicos should have been bid on at 2 though.

Also, the argument of taking pressure off the player makes more sense with KPP who take longer to develop. I'd argue it's worked too as there hasn't been much talk about Thilthorpe even though he hasn't blown the lights out. He's shown some good signs, but I think people would be expecting more if he was pick 1.

Andy_Mac, what do you think of Murphy Reid instead of Taurat then if you kept your second 1RD pick though?

Heard that he was a flight risk to interstate clubs by some so maybe that could be a selection for your mob or Richmond later on in the first round but did decide to settle on GWS being his destination given they are choosing best avaliable.

Agreed. I never said they'd like the reply. I assume it would be multiple futures. It's academic anyway, because we didn't go the the effort to trade a small fortune ourselves to get into the top 10 this year just to trade out.

Dees will just take him, we gave up pick 28 and a F1 (plus later picks) for that pick 9 originally.

Why would we do all that to just trade out for Norths F1 which may end up being worse than ours anyway.

we will be targeting the tigers picks after yours to grab a KPP

My hope is we take Lindsay if he gets past the saints, if he's gone then Bo Allan would be my choice.

We actually have quite a few young key defenders, so not sure Tauru is a real need TBH. Petty is young and a proven commodity down back (stupid forward), Daniel Turner who was also played as a makeshift forward will go back longer term and we get Kalani White as a F/S next year who is a 200cm defender. And as you note, Lever has 5 years of footy left, so plenty of water to go under that bridge.

It'd have to be multiple futures. We paid a lot to trade the pick in, so if we were going to sell it off, we'd want a decent return. If he gets through us, which based on the commentary about our interest at 5 is unlikely, Richmond would have to look at you F1 on it own.

Forgive me if this has already been discussed but what is the strategic advantage for any club bidding on Ashcroft
The strategic advantage I would use if I was Richmond would be taking Ashcroft at #1 purely to take the pressure off Lalor of being the #1 pick, however the marketing department will want to use the title to sell memberships/sponsorships.
