It's all fake, they just help each other out so everyone gets who they want. Same as trade weekI get Richmond don't bid on ashcroft at 1, but seriously the next 3 teams not bidding?
The strategy of going into the draft with Pick 2 and 64 was ridiculous
Further compounded by the fact that Pick 2 was on the market for weeks, and eventually spent for a mid
Further compounded by the real need and desperation for a tall, confirmed through trading what bookies currently see as a top 4 pick in 2025 for Pick 27 in 2024, and second round pick in 2025
This is the stuff that in the real world, people get sacked for
But hey Nth fans can hope on Whitlock being the next Wayne Carey so this all makes sense
It was predictable weeks away, they put themselves in a corner, and made a massive mess, and then paid a huge price to try and fix it
It's all fake, they just help each other out so everyone gets who they want.
No one bidding on the consensus best player in the draft until #5 is madnessI mean, isn't that the professional thing to do?
Is the goal for the draft for every club to work together within the systems in place to achieve as many of their list goals as possible?
Or is it to be a massive spiteful Dodoro who sacrifices mutually beneficial cooperation in favour of zero-sum tactics and giving your more emotionally-driven fans on forums the short-term sugar rush of "smiting your enemies"?
I'll take the former thanks.
So your strategy is sell pick 2 for rubbish, yeah no. You take the best talent, who should they have taken? Literally took the guy rated 1/2 on everyones board. The mistake may have been the overs they paid for Daniel but they got a solid contributor off HB hardly a shocker. They get back a pick in the 28-32 range next year via Richmond, meaning they have two picks in this range and they can trade or draft guys there.
North will improve too, bookies area laugh they are there to make money that's it. Should be out of the bottom 4, if they aren't sack the lot of the coaches and admin. It was time to make a move and this was perfect, they have picked what could be either the forward to help Larkey OR the defender, he can play either end

5th-last this year (Melbourne) won 11 games and had a percentage of 98. 4th last (Adelaide) won 8.5 games and had a % of 99.They are backing themselves to rise a bit, if they finish 3rd last the whole joint should be fired on the spot. They are surely 14th at worst so say pick 6 next year for 27 this year and lets say pick 30 (tigers second)
It's hardly a shocker but there is a risk.

North this year won 3 games and had a percentage of 63.
They could improve SIGNIFICANTLY and still finish 3rd-last next year. Especially playing home games in WA.
So they’ve likely traded pick 3 or 4 in the open draft for picks 27 and 25ish.
That pick trade from North is so heavily skewed in Richmond’s favour it almost seems unfair lmao
Not really. Get the player they rate highly while he’s there.

Yeah let's not change points system despite everyone knowing it's grossly unfair.
Yeah but then you look at the value Carlton got from Hawthorn for a far less juicy future first...
in which case i want new recruitersMaybe they had Whitlock as a top 10 talent.
Yeah the Daniel trade looks abysmal right now. They’ve essentially traded what is likely to be a top 4 pick in the open draft next year for Daniel (who cost them about the same as M Whitlock) and a future mid-20’s pick. The Daniel trade becomes a shocker the second the overpay to get M Whitlock at 27.
Two picks from where the Daniel pick would have been.
Either they believe they have the young talent required, and feel like its time to get senior plays to fill the gaps... or you still have gaps like the need for a young developing key back. it cannot be both.
If they stayed firm with the bulldogs, they could have selected M Whitlock at 29 tonight and then maybe a more ready type like bice at 64. There was always expected to be talls available at this range of the draft (Mraz, Barrat, M Whitlock). Their desire to use a F1 to get this player makes the decision to bring daniel in look disjointed and confused.
Was reported in todays HUN that they had him top 15.Maybe they had Whitlock as a top 10 talent.
But she is changing it...
Maybe they had Whitlock as a top 10 talent.

inside 20 is much different to top 10Why people rated him inside the top 20.
