AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Each of those players were drafted at a similar range to the selections we had tonight it's the number, not the round I am going off here (in previous years these were two second round picks)
Dean Towers was drafted in 2012 to a vastly different recruiting team to a team that has just won a flag and was looking for mature selections to make an immediate impact. Very different situation to now.
Stephens I admit was a failure of a selection, same with a few others, but all clubs have failures honestly we do a great job building our list, so am going to back us in.
Ok.
No kid tonight would take McCartins place in 25 or 26...
and what if McCartin is injured, or even Melican? The fact none of us have a real answer for who could come in instead is concerning.
26 v 40 Not a huge gap.But we didn't pick Micky O with a first round pick.
We addressed one need, with a player from the "Late/Rookie" section.
Ok.
No kid tonight would take McCartins place in 25 or 26...
and I am upset we have done nothing to address our clearance issues. Make the Grand Final again and the same thing will happen again.
You pick players like that up in Rookie drafts, trades etc.and what if McCartin is injured, or even Melican? The fact none of us have a real answer for who could come in instead is concerning.
All of those are either very late selections or junk pick trades. We are clearly not serious with our KPD depth issues doing things like that.
It's not so much that he was a reach but more the fact of who we could have picked and chose not to.Ned was 30 in Twomey’s rankings.
Why is everyone melting that he was a reach?
Personally, I’m quite pleased with our selections - we’ve been whinging all year about not having a pressure small forward and a Lohmann-style exciting medium forward.
We could have just found both.
So close to Hynes but still got my Day-Wicks type in Bowman. We did address two needs- I got my small forward and you got your medium lol
I'd argue it was their supply to the forwards that was elite and basically uncontested that did itI disagree with this. As a collective, the Lions forwards slaughtered us in the GF. But I'd say it was their small-medium forwards capable of contested marks in Rayner, Ah Chee and Lohmann that especially troubled us.
Fritsch kicked 6 in a GF a few years ago. It's been small and medium forwards that have been especially damaging in Grand Finals in recent times.
Well 19/20 is 2 years from draft. What? why wouldnt he? are you saying a 19-20yr old defender cant show promise
Not even close, maybe 6th most needed, just refuse to play guys thereTwo needs badly needed a small fwd
Unless my memory fails me, I cannot remember a successful top 20 KPD pick for swans since 2000
Logan looked nowhere near it down backYou pick players like that up in Rookie drafts, trades etc.
Unless you have a absolute peach as a defender still on the board. You rarely go in.
For the record. I think Logan will end up as a defender.
I think it was Richmonds F2Swapped picks which included Richmond's first 2025.
Well 19/20 is 2 years from draft.
