I would be ok with this, apart from the vic metro go home factor.
Murphy Reid is my favourite player in the draft
I would be so annoyed if we pick shitty whitlock if Reid slides to us
We have a fantastic history of keeping vic talent, shouldn't be a problem.

I would also be annoyed if we picked Whitlock first. There has been a bit of chat around that Reid would be keen to stay in vic though.
Reid sliding to us would be amazing
Pretty sure in an episode on Gettable earlier in the year he didn't say anything about needing to stay in Vic (like Perkins did) and was happy to go anywhere. Obs to be taken with a pinch of salt but yeah
May as well set the whole place on fire if we pick Whitlock with our first pick. They have played with a height advantage all throughout their juniors and I'm not sold that Jack's contested marking (which is strength) translates to AFL.
Idm going tall, but if we are it has to be Shanahan. If not take a tall later in the draft. Barratt, Gerreyn or West.

Listening to Cal, I think he was guessing about who we may pick, didn't sound like it was based on Intel
But what I really got out of that podcast was that our pick may have the last of the top midfielders. So do any clubs wanting a midfielder want to trade up? Especially if we're targetting a tall there? Dogs are a watch here I reckon.
Ruling out Tauru, maybe Reid gets through but not sure. But I don't think a tall should be our first pick.
Hynes or Dattoli shaping up as my first pick choices. Both might be bolters on the night but wouldn't surprise me. Really open to splitting 13 for 16 and 21 or 19 and 22. It just seems like a no brainer to me.

One final port were down to starting at #4 on the depth chart and another starting at #3
At every position if port had to take out it's first 3 in its spot they would look weak, that hardly makes it a pressing need
Even before you consider Rome Burgoyne looks likely to be a rookie pick as a HB
Saw this post in the List Management thread and the Stats match the eye test.
For me this actually simplifies who I want with first two picks. Our target should be someone with over 20 disposals and a goal a game with either 13 or 29. Would've said 25 disposals if we had a top 8 pick. But based on this I'd narrow my targets down to Langford, Smilie, Reid, Hotton, Hynes and Dattoli. For the sake of numbers (and because I like them) I'd throw in Travaglia and Gross.
Playing the odds, I'd rule out Langford, Smilie, Travaglia and Reid to get to 13 (or 16 whichever way you see it). So it leaves us with Hotton, Hynes and Dattoli, bit too early for Gross but there's a chance he doesn't get to 29 as well (or 33).
Obviously these stats don't involve Nationals and doesn't do full justice to interstate players (particularly Bo Allan) who has more runs on the board than 11 disp and 0 goals as this graphic suggests (still isn't a worthy target for me though).
Wouldn't surprise me regarding the Father Sons. I wouldn't be disappointed either, aside from the obvious. Missing out on Barrett would be disappointing though. He's the only one I really would like to take as I see something in him.
If we don't take the F/S, it gives us another senior spot (hoping Barrett gets to Cat B if we do nominate him), which I'm all for. Makes it even easier to split 13

Allan played as a defender and played against men, so is his 11 touches worth 3 times that, +1 as playing as a defender, +1 playing against men? And again playing as a defender his 0 goal average means nothing… So arguably the best ‘Athlete’ in the top end of the draft class averaging 33 touches feels a little different?
