This year’s National Draft is touted as one of the best in recent years and with that comes some potential gems in the third and fourth rounds.
Vic Metro coach Rob Harding has named midfielder Luke Kennedy as potentially one of those late-draft players who could rise up the rankings in re-drafts down the line.

The 181cm Sandringham Dragons midfielder is rated as being able to kick on both feet, clean hands and a two-way endurance runner.
SEN’s 2024 Phantom Draft has him falling to GWS at pick 63 and Harding is bullish about what he could become at AFL level.
“I will have to go into my own region (to answer this), but I have a player at the Dragons named Luke Kennedy who played senior footy as a 15-year-old, won the best and fairest in the seniors as a 16-year-old and just happened to be in a year where the top midfielders were Levi Ashcroft, Jagga Smith, Josh Smillie, Murphy Reid – they were probably preordained from 12-18 months ago,” Harding told SEN’s Sportsday.
“Luke has just played consistently great footy over the last two years. He was in the Vic Metro train-on squad that we had. Didn’t get a game unfortunately, but he has gone up against these top-end draft picks and done a really good job against them.
“He’s a classic six-foot midfielder who is clean on both sides. He’s going to get picked in the 40s or 50s, I think, and he’s going to end up being a really good player.

Sandringham don't have a single spud on their list.

Would be so happy with that draft haul. I said it in his thread but swap out Moraes for Hannaford and we have covered every base we need to.

Moraes getting sold a little short.

I might have said there’s a bit of Jasper Pittard in his decision making at times but gets to pick 30 it isn’t a bad call.

Port Adelaide will not nominate any of its four father-son candidates for next week’s draft but a Next Generation Academy prospect could find his way onto the Power’s list.
With the player pool considered to be one of the strongest in years, the Power has given up automatic access to Woodville-West Torrens halfback Rome Burgoyne (Peter), North Adelaide utility Louie Montgomery (Brett) and West Adelaide defender Ky Burgoyne (Shaun) – all sons of 2004 premiership players.
Roosters midfielder Oliver Francou’s dad, Josh, was runner-up in the Brownlow Medal at Port Adelaide in 2002.
Rome – the brother of Power wingman Jase Burgoyne – is the highest rated of the four and it is understood a couple of other clubs have shown interest in him ahead of the draft.
The Power can still select any of the four with its picks, if they are still available, but cannot match any selection from rival clubs.

The correct call on exposed form

Don't think Ky was ever going to be picked but must say I'm surprised about Rome, although I don't mind the call.
What does it say about benny barrett?
It doesn't say he was nominated either, just says if his name isn't called out during the ND then he can directly go to the rookie list. I'm not sure if he needs to be nominated for that to happen

You are probably right, started the year as a high end pick and has dropped away a bit. I just see a small, outside vic metro kid with a less than stellar kick. Feel there are better options for our list.

What does it say about benny barrett?
While the Power has not nominated any of its four father-son prospects, Next Generation Academy member Benny Barrett could find his way to Alberton next week. If the South Adelaide prospect’s name is not called during the national draft the Power can automatically add him as a rookie.

McEntee to be promoted to senior list, basically rules out us splitting the pick although it opens a rookie spot so maybe that's for Rome

Does Jed have a photo of Ken s……off a greyhound and did he share it with Rory Atkins?

If Rome, Louie and Benny aren’t on our list next year and Jed and anyone called Rory are, that is list mismanagement.

So can we automatically rookie Rome if he's not selected in ND? (i know that has been answered elsewhere)
Thats how I understand it, although that article makes it sound like we don't want any of them and would rather have them in our SANFL side for a year's development instead of letting them take a senior spot.

When I watch Reid’s highlights, I don’t see electric speed and line breaking, but rather high productivity, skill, class, evasiveness and a player who creates space and opportunities for those around him. Put that player around JHF, Rozee and Butters and good things will happen.

If we got Reid at 16, then strong choices for key defender, power forward and more of a goal-kicking medium-sized forward/mid with the next three picks I’d be very happy. Even moreso if we delisted McEntee and got Bowman as well with a later fifth pick (I get the feeling he’ll make it at AFL) and then still took Burgoyne with the rookie and Barrett with category B.
Agree, that type of player would fit in well with our current young mids
