Twomey considers Reid a potential slider

Where does he go? St Kilda and Melbourne will look at him later in the top-10, while Richmond (No.10 and 11), West Coast (No.12), Port Adelaide (No.13) and Fremantle (No.14) have also shown interest in Reid. There's a chance he is available deeper in the teens as far as the Western Bulldogs' pick No.17.

The kid is an absolute gun . We should not miss him at our pick . It seems like he would be playing footy from 1st round next year .

The Whitlocks look like they'll need time and then may not even make it. Skinny talls that lack body strength don't usually make it in the AFL. Hipwood and Max King are OK but someone a tad shorter with more intensity like Shanahan is preferrable. Having said all this I think our need for a tall is more in the backline. Aliir is 30, BZT is more a lockdown defender and Ratugolea has not settled into a KD. Beyond those 3 there is only the inexperienced Walsh.
Best skilled, nippy, footy smart forward/mid is my preference (Reid, Hotton or Berry) with our first pick. Then pick an athletic KD in the second round.
I agree mostly, except I'd rather Reid, Hotton, Allan or Travalgia if one is available. Hopefully we can pick up Mraz with pick 29.
Shanahan would be great.

I wouldn’t have thought that Fremantle would be drafting a tall forward so it also potentially opens up the option to create additional value through a pick swap.
Yep cant see Freo/GWS/WB or Rich needing a KPF so if a slider is not available at 13 it would make sense to trade to Sydney for 19&22, or to GWS for 16&21/37. Could then take Jack Whitlock and get an extra pick.

Big baller move would be to split 13 and use one of the picks on Shanahan

i.e. 13 to Sydney for 19 and 22 taking Shanahan and Hotton

Don't think Shanahan will make it to 19. I have doubts whether he'll make it to 13 haha

Richmond literally dont have anyone, they 100% need a KPF. Even if Lynch is fit the full season. Cal on Gettable mentioned that Whitlock twins at 15 and 16 is something thats being looked at. Saints need someone to partner Max King especially with the loss of Membrey so I think they target a tall too. And Melbourne also have had issues with their forward line and Petty hasn't stepped up.

I pray to god we dont take J Whitlock. For starters, I just dont think he's worth anything in the top 20 at least. There'll also be rumours every year that he wants to go back and play with his brother which will annoy everyone.

If its not Shanahan, or Reid, then like you said trade back for 19 and 22. Then I would also trade 36 and 50 for Brisbane's 27. So then we have 19, 22, 27 and 29.

19 and 22 I wouldn't use on the talls and instead would use 27 and 29 to get Barratt and Gerreyn. Take 2 out of Hynes, Dattoli, Hannaford and Gross with 19 and 22.

If you want a KPF and Armstrong is off the board that's when you split the pick with Sydney for 19 and 22

Don't reach into Whitlock

The thing about Armstrong vs the other talls is playing to Sandringhams midfield.

Armstrong is a good get but at Sandringham you are going to get a lot more opportunities to show off your talent.

This is one of the reasons why I think Shanahan has a higher ceiling. Not just does Armstrong get better service, he also had Matthew Lloyd coach him at Haileybury and Dragons have much better coaching department. Flipside, Shanahan has also played VFL and excelled albeit low sample size

Shanahan, Hannaford, Clarke and Dennis would be a mega win for us.
In my mock draft on X I ended up with Hynes (Shanahan and Reid weren't available), Hannaford, Gerreyn and Dennis.

Could have taken Travaglia or Hotton instead of Hynes for those who dislike Hynes but yeah that may be one way it goes.

The 4 names you mentioned would be awesome for us though. Shanahan replaces Dixon, Clarke is a genuine smokey, in a proper environment I reckon he'd easily have been top 20. Awesome work ethic to travel from Mt Gambier every game and play with Lytle training.

In the Armstrong, Shanahan debate, IMHO, I think Shanahan is not only better but would be a better complement to Georgiades and Lukosuis.

To me, he has that innate forward craft you can't teach. His leads are beautifully timed and he marks the ball at the apex which is always a good sign of good technique and timing. He could also built his body to be very powerful.

That's an awesome haul as well but I would've chosen Travaglia or Hotton as you would probably know.

Where did Shanahan go?

I couldn't agree more, I would say Armstrong is a bit one dimensional with his scoring avenues whereas Shanahan offers a bit of variety

It sounds like it is going to take a decent slider to knock us off a tall pick first. Twomey thinks Shanahan / Whitlock / Faull are all rated in the top tall forwards but ordered differently depending on the recruiters.
