Twomey considers Reid a potential slider

Where does he go? St Kilda and Melbourne will look at him later in the top-10, while Richmond (No.10 and 11), West Coast (No.12), Port Adelaide (No.13) and Fremantle (No.14) have also shown interest in Reid. There's a chance he is available deeper in the teens as far as the Western Bulldogs' pick No.17.

Cal Twomey's Phantom Form Guide: November Edition

Note this is NOT Phantom Draft that will be released on the Sunday/Monday leading to the week of the draft

Around our range so far with pick 13, but this expected to change with the Phantom draft ranking released later next week.

12. Tobie Travaglia
13. Leo Lombard
14. Isaac Kako
15. Joe Berry
16. Taj Hotton
17. Xavier Lindsay
Links us with Reid, Shanahan, J Whitlock, Armstrong and Allan for our first pick

Hannaford, Faull, Moraes and Harry Oliver at our second pick.

Must admit, only Reid, Shanahan and Hannaford fill me with excitement.

Things could and will change but some links to Dattoli and Gross would be nice too

He can also see a world where we get Armstrong. If we did trade up, he could be the target

Where does he go? Richmond, Melbourne and St Kilda have all done their work on Armstrong with early selections. If he got through to Port Adelaide at pick No.13, he would be right in the frame too.

Cal Twomeys intell is usually around the mark

Whitlock

Hannaford

Moraes

Maybe?

If this is what we end up with it'd be very underwhelming imo. Of course others may disagree but I have question marks on J Whitlock being effective at AFL level. He's got height but that usually by itself isn't an advantage at the next left. I would rather pick Angus Clarke over Moraes

Depending on how the order goes, I think I'd just stay and take Shanahan if he gets through. He hasn't had the same level of coaching as Armstrong has had at Sandringham and with the right set up I think he could have an even higher ceiling. Can ruck up forward too

Twomey mentions Port often in connection with talls at our first pick. Would have to be a genuine slider for us to move on a mid by the sound of that.

I probably wouldn't worry about Berry either.

If there is Reid AND Shanahan at our pick, we must take Reid. There are tall options deeper in the draft at 36 and 50 (namely Gerreyn and Dennis) I'd target than let Reid slip through.

But I'm starting to get a feeling that we'll somehow end up with Whitlock 😥

Yeah sure sounds like the small forward idea is not happening.
Hopefully common sense prevails but with Port as we all know expect the unexpected.

If we are even semi interested in drafting Rome as a rookie, why wouldn't we just nominate him? AFAIK we aren't forced to match a bid on him, so can let him go if he's selected earlier in the draft than we'd like, but would then have the opportunity to match if a bid came suitably late.

That's the point, I don't think we are interested yet. He's got a fair bit to prove in terms of his work ethic and fitness and I think we don't want to use up a spot for that so instead, our preference is to take him in the SANFL and let him prove himself there. But if another club wants to risk it it's different.

If I was a betting man, I would be going all in on Port picking Whitlock. He has been mentioned too often by Twomey, he's a 200cm Vic country player and we have had Dixon retire, delisted Scully and there's a big cloud over Marshall. And no one is convinced about Lord.

I expect us to take West or Nicholls later, but think Gerreyn might miss out if he goes between our second and third picks.

Whitlock's brother could be a silly chance if he's still on the board at our pick 29.

With Rome, if Port have him a long way down their ranking list and someone they rate higher is around at rookie level, they won't want to miss out by being locked in to a player low on their personal board. So I get why he wasn't nominated. Although I think he would make a good small defender.

Richmond with 10972 points.
I wonder if any team has had that many since GC or GWS came in
Not afraid to dip down the ladder, to bounce back up rather than remain in mid-table hell. Also not afraid to cut older players or trade them if get a decent return(cough Hartlett for a 1st. cough Lobbe for a first cough ). Also stick to their guns on what they want for players. Pretty much an anti-Port :( It'll be no surprise to anyone here when they win another flag before we do.

My problem is how you end up with potatoes like McEntee & Atkins on your list instead of taking a punt with a Burgoyne if someone else picks him up.

The world is an imperfect place.

If you removed all 'spuds' from AFL lists and replaced them with untried teenagers with potential then nearly every team would just have a list of 22 senior players and 22 teenagers every year. Then the moment you get the inevitable 4-8 injuries and are playing teenagers who aren't up to it, y'all will be complaining about lack of depth with absolutely no insight into the fact that players like McEntee and Atkins are what depth looks like in the AFL.

Can only assume that McEntee has been a rookie for too long, so had to be either upgraded or delisted (is that still a thing?) No list manager in their right mind would upgrade McEntee over Logan Evans if they had an actual choice...

They are not depth mate, be serious.

They are barely fit for SANFL

Rory Atkins over the last 10 or so weeks of the VFL minor round this year racked up 30-40 possessions every week. He is well above fit for sanfl level.

No one in our sanfl team has even looked like putting together that sort of form for a week let alone two and a half months.

I get people don't want him, I guess partly because his name is Rory Atkins, but he is depth.
