Has looked less likely as it's got closer to the date but i still think Bo Allan would be a great pick up. If he is there i'm picking him, but doesn't look like it is going to happen.

But there seems to be some good forward options in our range, warming to Shanahan, he looks and sounds good.

There's a possibility we could trade up if Draper is close enough.
Nil chance. We have nothing to trade up with other than 29. 13+29 could only get you up one or two places and no-one would do that while Draper is still available.

Draper is top shelf.

It's looking like Bo Allan is headed to one of the Victorian clubs. Dees or Saints are in pole position to draft him. Same with Harry Armstrong.

It is looking like Port is most likely going to draft a tall forward with its first pick in either:
  • Jobe Shanahan
  • Jack Whitlock
  • Jonty Faull
Either way, prepare for the meltdown come draft night. :tearsofjoy:

NORTH Melbourne and St Kilda are among a number of clubs who are dangling lucrative future picks in an effort to add to their Telstra AFL Draft stocks ahead of Wednesday night's first round.
The Kangas will take a future star with their pick 2 but have made it clear to rival teams that they are willing to also part with a future first-round selection to get back into the first round later in the evening.

Addy23 - I really like Reid, Shanahan, Berry, Hotton, Travaglia and Armstrong at 13. Therefore, if only one was available at 13, I wouldn’t split that pick. If two were, however, I might consider splitting with GWS for 16 and 21 but not with anyone else.

My logic is if there is a chance of getting 2 of my top 13 by splitting 13, I will split 13. If I risk missing all of my top 13 I won’t do it. If I’m doing a pick swap, I would also swap 50 for a very late pick as insurance for Benny. I don’t want anyone pouncing on him at 50+ and not being able to match.

Who is on your “really like at 13” list that would lead you to try and split 13, if 2 or more were were available, using my logic. Also, is there anyone in the frame at 13 who, if available, you simply wouldn’t risk a split. For me Smillie and Allan are but not the 6 above. You?

Finally, what are the chances GWS do this swap: 13, 36, 50 for 16, 21, 74 or a variant of 13 for 16 and 21?

PS I completely ignore Kako Lombard Ashcroft and other FS and Academy prospect from my rankings, numbers etc- useless distraction as they will definitely be matched.
Re - Barrett, the issue about getting another pick is that we don't have another senior spot. So it's either we pick him/match him at 50 or its Cat B or he's off elsewhere. We don't really need a pick to match too, it can just go into next year's deficit. The issue is the senior spot.

On who's in my top 13 - it would be Reid, Shanahan, Travaglia, Hotton. The thing is, if Shanahan gets to 13, I think he'll be there at 16 because I don't see Freo or GWS taking him. Which means I'd trade back and get 13 and 29 for 16 and 21. Very small chance Reid gets to 21, but 21 is a great pick compared to 29. I would definitely take Dattoli here. If we can't do this deal with GWS, then I'd take Reid at 13 so we can couple him with Gerreyn at 29.

If Smilie got to 13 we just pick him there, I'm not that big on Allan as I've said before.

Hotton makes sense with the 13+29 for 16+21 rumour

Would be very pleased if we end up with two of Reid, Shanahan and Hotton
Feel like if we did that trade with GWS it'd be because they want Hotton.

If Shanahan and Reid aren't there, I'd be very open to trading with Sydney for 19 and 22 for 13 straight (an offer they gave Suns)? Then trade 36 and 50 to Lions for 27. End up with 19, 22, 27 and 29. If we make that Hynes, Dattoli, Gerryne and Mraz, that's a good outcome imo. Maybe even Trainor a sneaky chance.

Cal Twomey's Phantom Draft: Top 30, late picks, whispers - https://www.afl.com.au/news/1256531

Wow, he has Armstrong sliding to our pick. Although if Richmond choose Armstrong instead of Shanahan (sounds like it's going to be a tight call) then we would probably get Shanahan.

He is convinced we really like Whitlock.

We could go tall again with Thomas Sims at 29.

Thomas Cochrane a sneaky chance to be rookied.

Harry Armstrong per Twomey

Shanahan and Reid gone before our pick 💀
A bit flat about that, if it does end up that way then I'd trade back. Hynes, Dattoli/Hannaford and Gerreyn over Armstrong and say Gross or Moraes

Also Ned Bowman into top 30! Wowie

Interesting that he's linked us to Tom Cochrane as rookie pick too

Granted it's only one highlight video, but Armstrong is too Marshall for me (skinny/lanky, too many almost moments). Shanahan game looks a lot more complete.
Would defs say the reason why I rated Shanahan higher throughout the season was because Armstrong is a bit one dimensional. He also got elite service from the Sandy mids which he won't get at Port. Shanahan was my dream alongside Reid but now neither sounds like they may happen. Hope for a late change
