Talk is that Murphy Reid is apparently putting on sulks about maybe having to move interstate. Assume the club has had talks if interested in him?
Was on Gettable just then and said he's spoken to Eagles, Richmond and us in recent days. Said he wants to get on an AFL list wherever that is and after talking to clubs he feels re-assured about moving interstate

Hes a Scott Lycett clone, not a good ruck, not a good forward
Funny you say that cause I think with the right development, he could be a Rowan Marshall, who many had the same comments on in his draft year when he went 10th in the rookie draft. Development has to do a lot with making or breaking careers of tall forwards and backs

Interesting (re Gerryn) because I have him as not draftable.
To be fair to him I have only watched one game.
I watch him and project him to be very good local footballer. I struggle to se him making WAFL level no matter AFL. I would be happy to leave him in the pool and see if he can prove me wrong next year playing against men.
He looks to be a lumbering big man, to slow for defence, not strong enough overhead for a key forward and to short to ruck.
He does not appear to be able to read the play and relies on the ball being kicked to him. Also fumbles more than I want.
I look at him and want him to be good but that is not what I saw.
Hes already played at Wafl level?

Yep, Reid came out publicly last week and stated he has no problem playing interstate. Probably a rumour put out by a Vic club hoping to get him later.

Might've been by Dogs because they're very keen on him but don't think he'll get to their pick.

Still think for me he's a top 5 player. You can't teach footy IQ and vision imo. Then there's the fact that he delivers it. Yeah he's on the smaller side but in my eyes that's no reason to let him slip. I'm still in the camp of him being our no.1 choice in the remote chance him and Shanahan are available. There's options at play for talls with later picks, with Sims and West also considered. Then there's Mraz and Dennis too.

I dont think Gerryn is much better than Teakle. Thats why we're keen for Whitlock instead. He looks more likely to make it as a Ben King type

The other thing with the interstate players is once they get here we are very good at making them feel like this is home and that they are in a genuine football club with a storied history. Ollie Wines is the classic story. In his mind he was gone after two years.

Even Daniel Merrett in the W program said the same about that side of the club.

The Ruck thing is interesting.

199cm now is 202-203 in a couple years.

100kgs now perhaps 115-120 kilos in a couple of years.

He gets under the ball good luck having a bean pole ruck trying to move him.

He's not fast but you can build up endurance over a couple of years in a professional environment if you have the right attitude.

Ball in hand he is very good.

I dont see us picking someone else with pick 13 who is not:

In order of preference

Shanahan
Reid
Armstrong
Whitlock's (lets hope not)
Think we’re all underrating Jack Whitlock a bit, a lot to like about him really, really agile for 200cm, good below his knees and actually plays with some footy nous.

I'm not the biggest Armstrong fan, but I'm happy if he slides to us and we nab him - he may appear similar to what we have, but I think he's a bit different in that his pack-work is "smart" rather than athletic, seeming to grab some marks that make you go how'd he end up with that?

I also think a left footed key forward would be beneficial in opening up both sides of the forward 50. Seems a dead-eye dick too.

Port obviously like him, these rumours aren't inventing themselves.

I think his backstory would be attractive to them too, the competitiveness with his brother (there's another one coming up too), the family environment, the love of sports and being outdoors, being Vic country. And he's a mobile 200cm teenager.

Is there a handy place which shows what 2025 picks each club holds? Lore's table at the top of the page is great, but doesn't show the full picture re what futures clubs have up their sleeves to trade in this draft.

This list is from Draftguru

I'm assuming from an earlier discussion that those clubs (like Port) without a first round selection can't trade in future picks.
