Thanks, Ford - so Geelong's position may not be quite as dire as Lore's table shows, but Collingwood have really maxed out the credit card.

Lucky they have such a young list of stars. ;)

Geelong want to trade into the first round, can't see that they have much to give up to do it, even the back end.

I don't understand how Whitlock is shit, seems like this narrative has grown legs on here for no apparent reason. I actually like the sound of both of them.
My theory is it’s a combination of Jack:

- being really lean / skinny (so the casual fan is worried he’s being rated solely on potential rather than output, and is a high risk project player - so high bust potential);

- having a twin KPP brother in the same draft draws negative comparisons to the King twins (i.e. the Whitlocks aren’t pre-draft top 10 certainties like the Kings were, so are seen as the “wish.com” version of them - which underwhelms people); and

- finally, he’s just plain goofy looking and doesn’t fit the ideal “big burly manly” aesthetic that most want from their KPF.

Now, I am not a draft expert at all (although if I had my way we’d be picking one of either Shanahan or Reid) so I can’t speak to whether he’s actually any good or not.

However, in my opinion the recruiting team have a good enough record with recent first rounders (Sinn aside) that if they choose Whitlock tomorrow night, I’m going to reserve judgement and back him / the team’s decision in. I mean…….at the end of the day at least it won’t be another miniature HBFer with a unique blend of speed and endurance 😉

Twomey thinks Armstrong could slide out of the top 20 if Port don't take him. He thinks GWS and Freo have no interest. So we could trade back at 13 and still get him.

I'm talking myself into Armstrong... worked a lot with Matthew Lloyd as a junior who had this to say about him:

"I believe that he has … nastiness is the wrong word – that's what Kevin Sheedy instilled into me – but he has the ability to be what I call a tenpin bowler. He takes down everyone with him and flies for his marks," Lloyd said.

"He takes marks that no one else will take, from what I've seen. He'll lead and re-lead, then when he's ready to launch he'll either get it, because he's got a metre on his opponent because of the work he's done off the ball, or he'll just drive his knees through and bring everyone down with him for the crumbers."

I watched an interview with Armstrong yesterday and he talked about his time with Lloyd (I think it was 3 years at Haileybury?) and how much Matty taught him as well as working on his kicking action. he is a bit of a deadeye from up to 50m, would love to have that skillset in our F50.

Massive fall if true.

Twomey is guessing a lot this year, he can't get a read on Richmond. They might just take Armstrong at 10 or 11 too, he's not all in on them taking Shanahan.

Looks like the Whitlocks are Hawthorn fans (They’ve put down Gunston and Breust as favourite players). Finally a player who hates Keninkley as much as we do.
Both boys are a huge chance at being drafted to a non-vic club which means…flying and we all know how much Ken loves flying.😏🤣

Their draft profiles, positions played and body shape/look makes it hard not to draw comparisons with the King twins. I also recall pre 2018 draft that the talk that we were keen on Ben King wasn't received very well on here but Ben King has turned out to be a very good player. I would still take Rozee ahead of him but it wouldn't have been a disaster to end up with Ben King.

the Whitlock twins might look a bit goofy but I'm sure they would've had some competitive battles in the backyard, and overall i tend to lean more towards the Vic Country boys over metro and these two boys seem like they come from good stock so i actually think Jack Whitlock wouldn't be a bad pick up. I wouldn't be against trying to pick up his brother too if he slid or we split 13.

If we are wanting a key forward Shanahan, Armstrong and Whitlock all sound pretty good to me.

Seems like we're getting linked to Gross a lot with our pick 29 in particular. Not sure I really rate him tbh, plenty of others I would look at with our second pick.

Could be looking at contested ball winners which is why Cochrane has popped up on the radar.

Is there a chance we get to use our first two picks tomorrow night ?

Sold.

I think he's doing a "late mail" segment tonight going over any shifts in his current draft/other rumours etc. (Someone feel free to correct me)

That sounds right to me

If we do a trade for pick , then yes

So I’m guessing up to pick [emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] on the first night.
