You’d think so, but one of the big disappointments with DGB was his inability to get his tank to AFL standard over many preseasons. That table shows exactly why Gerreyn would be such a good get. Strengths in power, athleticism and contested marking are key. Tank can be developed, decision making can be taught.
Might have to wait until tomorrow night - unless we climb up the draft ladder to 'NAB' him before he Faulls to another club.Hope Jonty Faulls to us tonight.
Would not be at all upset if we traded out of this draft and had a strong hand in 2025 (A must keep).
Will be hilarious if none of the top mids fall to St Kilda and they are forced to take two defenders. I thought losing Battle meant loading up with much needed gun mids at the draft?LATE MAIL PHANTOM DRAFT
1) Richmond – Sam Lalor
2) North Melbourne – Finn O'Sullivan
3) Carlton – Jagga Smith
4) Adelaide – Sid Draper
5) Brisbane – Levi Ashcroft (matching Melbourne's bid)
6) Melbourne – Harvey Langford
7) Richmond – Josh Smillie
8) St Kilda – Tobie Travaglia
9) Gold Coast – Leo Lombard (matching St Kilda's bid)
10) Essendon – Isaac Kako (matching St Kilda's bid)
11) St Kilda – Alix Tauru
Arlo really struggling in the SANFL though, unfortunately just think he hasn't been cut out for AFL footy despite his u18s formWould not be at all upset if we traded out of this draft and had a strong hand in 2025 (A must keep).
I always thought Arlo Draper was very unlucky at the pies, whom took our long over Draper in the end ( not directly).
If Mitchell and Co thinks Arlo can add to our Hokball go for it! Let’s take a swing at the stumps.
You’d imagine Arlo would be AFL ready physically.
Anderson and Draper sounds alright to me. Go Hawkas!
What a joke this is.
What a joke this is.
I think the problem, for the first pick, lies with the bonus money the player. But after that it's pretty dumb. When will AFL clubs works out that where possible you don’t give opponents a advantage on you?
They just keep doing things the hardway! When will AFL clubs works out that where possible you don’t give opponents an advantage on you?
Game theory. When will AFL clubs works out that where possible you don’t give opponents a advantage on you?
Game theory.
Yes, you want to minimize your opponent's advantage but in this scenario there are 17 opponents and any of the other 16 (realistically a lot less due to draft order) that can also perform the action required to reduce the advantage.
The main cost of performing the action yourself is that you then open yourself to be the target of retaliation in the future. Plus other secondary concerns around starting salaries and demonstrating to the player you will end up with that you don't rate the player you have no chance of actually drafting above them (even if you really do).
With such an even distribution of talent this year it makes sense that the bid won't come super early. But I still wouldn't expect him to slide too far. Clubs know Brisbane have prepared themselves to match any bid and the amount they need to pay drops off very quickly after the first couple picks.
I would too. And I'd think the same thing if it were Hawthorn with pick 1.I understand what you've said.
It's kind of like all that good will we developed by being easy to trade with. /s
If I was in Richmond's shoes, I'd be calling Levi's name.
Roos & Blues are not bidding since they will trade for Lions pics. Their list managers are switched on and extracting every benefit.I am actually convinced now on why Cal reckons a Levi bid comes only at pick 5. I feel there is understanding with both North and Blues for Lions pick 27 & 34 to be nabbed. May be dependant on if Roos are trading pick 2 or not and to whom.
Maybe pick 27 is marked for North F2( if it is available and not traded). Pick 34 may be taken by Blues for 38 + one or more 60's picks.
If Roos get Pick 27, Gerryn will get picked there before Freo has a chance. Seems like Gerryn has achieved mythical status on Roos board.
PS : the Arlo contact may well be to persuade him to play for BoxHill with chance at MSD and to also start the work on establishing contacts with Sid.
Is tall, a booming kick and strong hands.Surely Roughy handing over the guernsey means our first pick is a KPF.

ESPN have us taking Sims in their final phantom draft.
But I do wonder if we consider trading back for an early 3rd + F2 if he's not there at 33.
Future captain. 200 game player.Pick 33 - Hawks get their man
(Can’t believe he was still there)
Had posted below SS of another poster's take on draft talent, others can say if this is accurate. Davo-27 can you help.
Line 40 says Contested game is weakness.
If we trade down as Cal says then he is a likely target if we have done the work on him.

Pies fan review of Stumpf
i wasnt a fan, Arlo Draper seemed ordinary, never got his hype tbh... people were pushing him to go in the top 10, i tried my best to rate him low and influence others to not rate him so high...Arlo really struggling in the SANFL though, unfortunately just think he hasn't been cut out for AFL footy despite his u18s form
