Look i know this has probably been asked and answered a million times, apologies in advance but do we have any spots open for the rookie draft?

Barrass, Battle + Hill, Mraz, Anderson, Uhr - Henry...

Strong off season. Key position defenders were our issue and we've gone bang, bang, with two excellent best 22 players who give us an enormous amount of backbone. Then Mraz as a longer term prospect to go with McCabe as well for when some senior guys move on, it's really strengthened us there.

Wing/outside run was one area we were a bit short in our midfield, and Hill suddenly a very interesting developing player from 'nowhere', to go with D'Ambrossio and Jiath. Exciting pick.

Anderson gives us a manic, pressure forward type, to complement what we have with Watson and Ginnivan.

Uhr - Henry a longer term project ruck at a ridiculous height.

So really strengthened the short term, but some astute drafting as well with targeting some specific needs going forward for our development, with the flexibility of trading or going to the draft again next year.

The happiest people (besides Mraz) at the Hawthorn Football Club tonight are Max Ramsden and Jasper Scaife. Their job security and likely pay packet just increased. Chol and Lewis did not need to worry but their value to the Hawks also increased.
I was thinking a similar thought, there is a massive opportunity for Scaife to play
senior footy as our key forward next year.

He's my main watch for the pre season.

The more I read these articles the more I realise it’s the dumbest thing in the world to rate a club’s draft haul before any of them have even kicked a ball for their clubs. You can only grade these in years to come - the whole ‘we can only really grade Hawthorn a C’ screams out ‘I’ve never watched these blokes play junior footy so ¯\(ツ)/¯’.
They're not even rating the drafting of the players for the pick....

"It is hard to hand the Hawks a grade better or worse than this, given they didn’t get involved until the second evening."

By my count we have 37 on the Primary list and 4 rookies. Not including Gunners.
Primary list max is 38. Total list size is 42
If we have a spare senior list spot, why did we delist Gunners? Is there a plan to elevate one of the rookies?

Welcome to Curmudgeon World.

I've been here for quite a long time now, but I'm always glad to see new members...

Hawthorn was one of three clubs to not get on the clock until night two, having dealt its first-rounder during the trade period — eventually picking key defender Mraz at No. 35. It is hard to hand the Hawks a grade better or worse than this, given they didn’t get involved until the second evening.
