No it was my interpretation and we had a bit of a debate about it, as you said its 3 AFL flags and I said the way the counter graphic was its got to be 3 across all grades otherwise we wouldn't have had the 37, 38, 39, 40 counter graphic.

Richo has never said to me that it was across 3 grades. Being sarcastic about the club loving Hinkley I just couldn't believe it was for the AFL side only. I may have been wrong in my interpretation of what they were trying to achieve, but I was confident that they wouldn't achieve it at AFL level.

I thought Richo made his prediction prior to us getting an AFLW side, so it would have been for AFL + SANFL only?

Yes it was February 2021 when he presented it at the AGM, but we were in the middle of applying for a W licence. We were officially awarded it in May 2021.

As I posted, he never said it, it was my interpretation of what he meant given the count graphic he used.

I don't know. Whatever happened to the **** you I'm gonna prove you wrong attitude? It doesn't work for everybody, but for a lot of people it used to be a massive motivator. Just doesn't seem to be a thing these days.

It was about setting a high aspiration and trying to achieve it rather than just say we will win one. He talked about the great vs good clubs and that in this century Brisbane (3 then lost a GF), Geelong (3 inc losing 1 GF after first), Hawks (lost a GF then won 3) and Richmond (3 ) all won 3 within 5 years before they dropped away and that the club's aspiration was to join that group of clubs not just win one, like in 2004.

I said to you that they should have gone with the aim is to win one premiership and say that if we achieve that, then the goal was to win multiple premierships in a 5 year period like the above clubs.

Can't even get to a grand final, let alone win 1. And this stupid club has an unassailable goal of winning 3 in 5. We're run by clowns who want an easy out. 3 in 5 was NEVER gonna happen given we didn't even win 1 in the preceding 7 or 8 years.

I didn't even bother listening to his response. I'm not even concerned we didn't meet the expectation as it was ridiculous in the first place. What I am concerned about is our pathetic finals record. They refuse to acknowledge that.

Agree, it was quite evident with the way he answered questions he was struggling but at least he fronted up.

I don't see this as a player issue, they don't deserve to cop sh*t about it. Hinkley is obviously good at building relationships with players, they like him because he cares about them as people, not just as footballers. I have no doubt he's helped individuals in dealing with issues and private aspects of their life that they're grateful for. Every coach now talks about building a connection between players and coaches, this shouldn't be a criticism of Hinkley. My personal opinion is hate Hinkely for his coaching, hate the board for keeping him in a job, but the constant pile on of players for supporting Hinkley is a nonsense.

We don't object to them supporting Hinkley publicly, we object to them constantly referring to him as like their Father. They are not children, they're supposed to be elite level footballers playing in a tough sport. Why don't they ever talk about his tactical qualities or how much he drives their ambition to succeed in finals. Nah, let's just talk about him being like our Daddy.

Janelle Cuthbertson is 30 and with a significant amount more experience in both sport and life than Connor.
