i dont really like the coleman pick

averaged 87 in 2022, but this was with rich, and without mckenna and wilmot. looks like there is upside on 2023 average of 71 with some scope for natural progression too at a glance.

when rich left the side in 2023 after round 13, coleman averaged 84.5~ for the rest of the year, excluding finals. some of his biggest games came in finals which is why i think people like the pick as his best games were the ones freshest in peoples minds. it seems like mckenna took most of brisbane's kick ins when rich left the side as well, with coleman and wilmot getting a lesser share, so he does not have an easy avenue to 25+ points a week like some defender options do. those two aforementioned players being rebound options brisbane go through a lot also hurts colemans oppurtunities to seagull easy possessions.

as you hint at in your post he is also quite injury prone. too much risk in coleman for me to pick him
Round 2 bye as well is yuck if SuperCoach go down the fantasy path

Coffield will be a bargain, but shouldn't we be worried about his durability?

What about Busslinger - any reports from the track? What's the likelihood of an early appearance?

Currently thinking

Daicos (approx 640)
Sicily (628)
HH (444)
Coleman (393)
Gibcus (208)
Curtin (175)

Pink (102)
Coffield / Busslinger / ??? (146/123/???)

Gotta hope ZWilliams pings something before the season starts, otherwise will have to start him. Gibcus, Pink and Coffield so attractively priced, also Grainger-Barras, who could be parked at F8. Alternatively we might all end up with a nice scoring D5/D6 combo for a total cost sub 367k.

Considering the value route of one SP (Sicily/Stewart) and three MP's, Young, HH and Barrass, plus the regulation cheapies.

A long way to go but we have potentially a glut of cheap defenders. If we get to round one we may have Zwilliams, Gibcus, Coffield, Pink, Hore named, all at prices hard to resist. One would expect Zwilliams, Gibcus, Coffield and Hore to score respectably, particularly the first two, and Pink will play every week and make money. Hard to know which one to leave out.Probably better JS than rookies too.

All of these are mature aged players and will have much higher floors than the usual novice players at their price points.

Also in the wings are Curtin and potentially Grainger-Barass who can also play on other lines plus Chapman, now in his fourth year as a MP option.

One option would be to run D4-D6 with cheapies and sacrifice say Young, who might be upgraded to a premium midfielder or forward.

I don't think any of them are walk up starts and would be a brave person to rely on any 3 of them as D4-D6 in my opinion

Most Hawks posters think DGB is a spud on legs

Been a bit of chat around Ridley being freed up with the addition of McKay, is there any net gain though with BZT leaving?
Yes, IMO .....Kaine Baldwin also very impressive at ESS Training .....so I'm high on Ridley this year ...he's burn't me the last 2 years, but I feel he's ready
