Tempers and testosterone levels are at an all time high with everyone edging up until Wednesday’s release.

theres definitely been a change in the tone and mood on this thread - pressure building up to release some full blown melts on Wed/Thurs

TBH I'm at the point of just letting it be - we're getting 7 new highly rated kids into the club - there'll be some busts and some surprises but as long as they're all giving it a 100% crack I'm happy and I'll be watching with much interest and excitement

The best junior rucks rarely make the best senior rucks. Especially the short ones who think they're midfielders.

I just looked through the drafts since 2012 (since it's most favourable to my argument and recent), and most years the first ruck not fwd/ruck drafted was the best (not that it changes much)

and one of the ones where they're not the best is 2013 with rory lobb getting picked 6 spots before nank

and I also have the 2016 draft with tim english, sean darcy & rowan marshall with english being my pick since he's 2 years younger than marshall and his body is less cooked than darcy's. but even if you say marshall or darcy is better, OK cool but I'd gladly take english as a consolation prize

2014 and 2017 are the big misses for first ruck drafted (ROB & xerri rookie draft)

2012 - #18 grundy
2015 - #45 flynn (academy)
2018 - #34 briggs
2019 - #3 luke jackson
2020 too early to tell but battle between thilthorpe, shannon neale & samson ryan

and of course 2009 is gawn first picked ruck!


at worst it's a 50/50 shot for the best ruck of the draft over the last decade, i'll take those odds

Yeah I think we have panicked the last couple of years with our KPP, seems we went volume before quality (probably had no choice). Still we had to address it and we had no idea of quantity of first rounders we would get this year.
We still need quality there.

Given nobody really knows, I'm not sure how people can continually disregard him as an option completely.

Its because a lot of the hardcore draft watchers lock down their opinions by this time and can't comprehend being wrong. It's also why the epic melts are usually from the same people.

I mean kudos for the effort in watching so many games but the picks are made by the club not the draft aficionados.
