Midfielders went early and were average with Brayshaw and LDU the best at picks 3 and 4.

KP’s went later and were better - Naughton, Fogarty, Balta, Allen, Sam Taylor, De Koning, McCartin, Petty & Ballard.

Thanks heaps for all of your work, we just get to see the end product and have no idea of the time and effort that goes in to producing the mountain of work that you've done.

I've noticed though that you have a few knocks on the KPP's in this draft (so it's not just me) Armstrong with his inconsistent contested marking, Shanahan's competitiveness and I'm sure there're other concerns on the rest.

Do you see any of the KPP's in this draft that can take the game by the neck and lead a team to a premiership?
I do sometimes wonder if I'm just too harsh on tall forwards in general and I have my biases, so perhaps take my opinion with a grain of salt. There's every chance one or all of these guys are going to make it.

I prefer my key forwards to be highly competitive and have some white line fever. I think its far more common for the key forwards who lack that competitive drive to end up as busts, like Schache and Weideman.

The toughtest key forward competitor in the pool is Jonty Faull without a doubt. He was fantastic at the tail end of last year, entered the season as the top ranked key forward prospect and a top 10 fancy. But then he had the back injury, and just didn't really look like the same guy even after he got back on the field. He kicked some bags, but wasn't moving freely and didn't look right to me. Back injuries are a probably for tall guys. I'd want to see the medical report on that, but if it looks like its not going to linger then I'd take Jonty over the others.

Don't think we could ask for better than those 3 at our current picks barring a player sliding ridiculously which worries me about getting our hopes up 😁

I’d be bloody stoked if Cal’s phantom for us came true, probably be happy to swap Shanahan to J.Whitlock or Armstrong but the rest I’m ok with, Alger can take or leave but I reckon we’ll trade that pick.

Lalor/Smillie/Lindsay is a good blend with Lindsay being the outside mid we need who can play across hb.

Draft night can’t come quick enough

Thanks for taking the time to reply and offer an honest appraisal.

We've had our fair share of those that lack that competitive drive and have been lucky enough to have scored two that do, Reiwoldt and Lynch.

It's what I've been looking for in this pool but just haven't seen it, along with what I consider sub standard skills. Good to hear about Faull and I'm sure that we'll do our due diligence.

One that has piqued an interest is Gerreyn, I think he has the skillset along with that bit of mongrel/competitiveness, just a pity that his exposure in the WAFL was limited to a couple of washed out games where he didn't get a chance to perform. Obviously dominated the Colts given his size, just wondering whether he could transition to playing AFL
