Why would it be dumb?

If I put myself into the shoes of a similar player, being drafted by Richmond looks an incredibly appealing proposition in comparison to the viable alternatives.

1. Big club, huge following, the prospect of lots of matches in front of huge crowds
2. Very stable club with an impeccible recent record for player treatment
3. a salary cap position that should see you on big money from a young age if you are good enough - which means making more money overall in your career
4. avoid North, interstate move, Melbourne & all their issues, Saints penchant for tragedy etc.

What exactly would be dumb about increasing your chances of getting to Richmond's second pick and avoiding most of those other clubs between pick 2 & 6 currently?
Also when this tanking of form would have taken place their was zero way of knowing exactly what picks we’d end up with

Hysteria starting to affect logic levels in a major way

I’m gonna preempt Cal and say his update will have Bo Allan at 7.

Because I’ve had the feeling through some info I’ve gathered, Bo Allan is a guy we don’t want to leave on the table.
He doesn't get through to 10/11. Dees also very keen, if the Saints don't take him.

I'm happy to take him over Smillie. Prefer the extra speed, and I think he's less likely to be a bust given he can play positions other than midfield.

The idea Richmond would suggest to a player that they tank to any degree is ridiculous. What happens when that leaks? Why would Richmond be so stupid and take that risk? Would set the club back a long way.
I think you would be be surprised how often clubs 'hide' players.

we're taking bone alan cos we know west cucks pay through the nose to bring their players home

will be used in the harley reid trade

want him now purely so we can call him bone alan all year

do you reckon we still get Smillie at Pick 10?

I think and tbh Cal has backed this up, there’s probably more chance of Smilie being there at our next pick then Bo.

I think that’s the thinking of our club now. Guarantee Bo and high percentage Smilie gets through or Guarantee Smilie and small chance Bo gets through.

There’s so much going on atm. We’ve settled on Lalor only recently.

pretty sure smillie made the AA team 2 years ago as a half back, and has played midfield and fwd this year. unsure of what he did last year. (edit: think he might've even played half back in an academy game this year?)

so I don't buy that reason for allan being less likely of a bust since smillie has probably played better off hbf & in the mid than allan, and if allan's point of difference is that he can play wing... what a waste of a top 6 selection

I do get that allan is more athletic which is nice, but I also remember that sam philp spud that carlton drafted? amazing athlete, wonderful 2 game career

Not sure our recruiters play those sorts of games early. They wouldn’t risk losing their favoured player. The only reason they pick Allan at 6 is if he’s rated higher on our board.
