Wait, the write ups on Hynes say he is explosive. But a few of you are saying he is slow/average. Which one is it??

Every team needs a 190cm, strong bodied and explosive mid. We don't have someone to be that post Bont. So I am okay with the pick. There really wasn't anyone appealing at pick 17 left anyway.

I found it interesting that he told Twomey, that he sees himself being more of a forward that ventures into the midfield, than primarily as midfielder.

Is having four players 190cm plus really the way to go? When we get killed by the lack of small players? Hopefully we drafted him with an eye on the midfield.

it’s too late to unscramble the egg now but if we hadn’t traded our F1 for Sanders last year we’d have come into this draft with pick 13 (after the Ashcroft bid) and would have had first shot at Faull, Berry, Reid, Hannaford, Oliver (and Allan?)

We’d still have snared Croft and probably some other pick in the 2023 2nd or 3rd round.

What’s the feeling? Are we better off with Sanders (who could still be a flight risk in a few years anyway)? Or should we have kept our powder dry?

Libba and Trealor are both over 30 and The Bont is also close to that mark.
We now have Red 25 years old, Sanders and Hynes both under 20.
With picks 25 and 27 we hopefully can address some speed on the wing and down back.

Depends whether you think Gallagher, Garcia, west can transition into midfield time. I just think he’s similar to sanders and both aren’t blessed with leg speed and what we desperately need in that area.

We need young mids but burst speed and creativity are massive needs

I’m not a draft watcher really, but reading that Hynes averaged more than a goal a game and 23+ possessions.

Surely he’s a good prospect from that alone lol
Why form that opinion when 90% of the flogs on this forum have formed a negative opinion after watching a couple of highlights packages from this draft class? Obviously they’re the real
Experts!!

Explosive and genuine speed aren’t necessarily the same thing. Bont explodes out of packs but I wouldn’t call him fast.

he doesn't have the tank to play Midfield at this stage so will need to play forward at VFL level (maybe crack AFL) before shifting to the midfield in two or three years time.
