ESPN have put up a full phantom including a stab at some live trades.

The big trade is St.Kilda trading pick 10 to GWS and picking up Murphy Reid and Harry Armstrong at picks 18 and 19.
I wouldn't be surprised if St.Kilda went for something like this as they are 2 highly rated Sandringham boys who St.Kilda do love to target. It would be a bold call as both those players could be gone earlier, although St.Kilda still may prefer two picks to one.

It would be an unfortunate result for us, as in this draft without the trade Reid would likely slip through to us.

This would be very St Kilda. They love going for those we like. Just like Hawthorn and trade targets.

I’d feel a lot better about Dattoli if he was quick. He just seems to me like a duplication of what we already have in West.

If he was a quick genuine crumber then I'd be happy but Cody genuinely has more of a ground game than him and that's his biggest weakness.

So what's the plan if Berry or Murphy don't slip we go with Hynes or Daltonti?
We reach for some kid nobody here rates, and he goes on to be a star (e.g. Bontempelli)

I'm still not wrapt in Dattoli, but am warming to him a little bit.

I think his lack of a ground game is being overblown. He played wing/half forward in a number of games towards the end of this year and did well, averaging 23 touches and getting as many as 35.

In the finals he was laying 5-6 tackles and was 2nd to Jagga Smith in metres gained in his team's last final.

The highlights packages, particularly Vic metro, tend to focus on the marking, partly because he mainly played deep forward and because they're an easier edit.

I can see him as being effective as that high half forward role that Macrae/Daniel/Smith have opened up.

As a linking, marking option pushing up to the wings and the contest, more than a pure small forward as such.

Even with that, I like this draft. Hynes, Oliver, Boxshall, Jaques, and Angove would be a great haul with Oliver being my pick of the bunch, we need his toughness.

We'll find a gem late. I can feel it in my bones. Someone who knows far more than me suggested Robbie Worrall as a small forward crumber

I see upside in Hynes, Dattoli I just don't see any real weapons. There is obviously something there because he is consistently rated around our pick, but I don't know what he becomes. Dylan Moore?
I think it's his ability to be a bit 'slippery' and find space. Shame he didn't test at the combine.
To the eyeball I guess he can cover the ground ok.

If we take him, I'd hope we look at a crumber late or in the rookie draft.

That’s a pretty decent game.
Cant see him ever being a defensive beast but he seems to go when its his turn. He wont play if he doesn’t run back, its a mindset thing as you’ve suggested and not an uncommon one at CTL level. That will change pretty quickly when you are playing in the two’s and getting explicit feedback as to that being why.

I read that and think there is plenty to work with at pick 29. Fact is the better list fits appear to be gone just before our first and second picks.

I think Hynes and Moraes still improve our depth and fill list needs if that’s how it ends up.
Freijah looks too composed and clean down back to stick out on the wing at the moment, another winger is required and this fella has plenty of runs on the board and good physical profile for the position.

We would all love a small forward/high half forward/pressure forward but if there is no quality option available then so be it. Sort out some other needs. Riley Garcia, Rhylee West, Cody Weightman can hold the fort for a while longer. Not convinced by any of the later options in this position. Anyone like a small forward late?

Other than the lack of improvement I don't understand the dislike of Moraes. He has had some massive games and looks very capable of being a solid wingman.

I get that raw is sexier in an outside type but I expect he could develop into an AFL wigman quite quickly. And I still think we are desperate for a talented natural winger.

I'd be happy of we took him in the second round.

EDPS had Dattoli in the top 5 for disposal in this draft class. I think my concern is that he doesn't seem to have a clear position. Not zippy or crafty enough as a forward and perhaps a bit undersized to end up a mid. Maybe can play as a high half forward but those positions require some pretty high end running ability which I don't think he has.

Not having a clear best position can be considered a strength in a Luke Beveridge side. For better or worse our whole team seems to be picked more on assigning specific attributes to certain areas on the ground rather than perceived best role.
