So from my perspective a ruckman might have an otherwise good game but if his opponent is taking the ball out of the ruck and getting it into dangerous areas quickly he’s having a few issues.

And both of these are against the lions 2nd and 3rd options

How about the inside mids make the most of his hitouts? What were they doing yesterday I mean Heeney and Warner had a holiday out there

Yep Grundy gave our boys first use 15 times. I would back us more times than not to have 6-7 goals just off of Grundy's 15 said taps but we only had 5 stoppage goals for the game

But they’ve been poor all year. We get pantsed by everyone. Tom green. Zac butters. Cripps. Daicos. Even the st kilda guys who are all called jack something.

The issue I have is with the coaching and strategy to not try something different or someone different. I mean how many weeks do we watch us having to come back from 30 points down and relying on our opponents to butcher their first use. Couldn’t we maybe just try a different tactic ?

Their difference making was chucking a winger on ball

Warner isn't an inside mid, so that is part of the problem. Even Heeney isn't really.

We have one player on the list who is a clearance player and the coaches prefer him in the reserves.

Yep, there is a big difference between a mid who is supposed to be on the inside and one who is not. Our "inside mids" are actually much better being the ones who receive the ball rather than the ones who win it. Heeney should be the second Swan to touch the ball in a clearance, not the first, same with Warner and Gulden should probably be the third.

Warner should honestly replace Amartey at half forward and then bring in Gus into the midfield and half the problems would be solved

Good lord just realised we've been linked to Stringer. Seems like literally the last need.

Key Defender.
Can't be expecting Melican & McCartin to be the lynchpin next year. Melican great year, very good No. 2 defender imo, but first season of 20 games can't be counting on that. McCartin had an awful season imo, better player than this though and obviously has his injury/concussion issues too. These two should be fighting it out for who's winning the No. 2 KD spot on the weekends, and with both of their injury histories it may not even be a fight. Need a decent big KD (197cm type) to set that defence around and sure the thing up.
We've gotten away with being undersized down there for quite some time but need to fix that, if we're trying to reload, which I assume we will be. To not address this in some way would be a massive mistake or they'd have to be seriously confident an Edwards could play 20 good standard AFL games next year, big ask.

I doubt we can trade in more than 1 player with our cap so everything else can come in the draft, most the the other pieces are already on the list. A 2nd small forward is another issue, but the club is clearly aware of it had swings Konstanty, Hanily, played Wicks at times when he hasn't been in his best form etc. Tried Cleary late with some success, but surely he's a mid long term? Wouldn't be surprised if they drafted another small forward.

When your forward hope is McLean,Amartey,McDonald stringer is a upgrade

Pick up the phone to demons and offer our first for clarry and 300k of his salary paid.

Exactly who we need. If our culture is as good as they crap on about , his off field stuff won’t be an issue

If we are paying 300k how is he worth a first in the current state? Should be the other way if we are sending a first rounder

We'd need to pay more than 300k for Clarry for demons to accept that. Honestly give them both of our first picks, they'll be in the 20s when matching is done. If we get that done it'll be good business

Convince a player to request a trade, then worry about the deal.

That said, Oliver's value is so hard to gauge. I think there are other clearance players who we could target that would be much more realistic if we could convince them to come.

Let's just get Cripps ;)

Not sure why there seems to be so much focus on Grundy.
He had 18 contested possessions, only Neale had as many (also18). Next best for us was Rowbottom with 12.
7 clearances only Rowbottom (10) had more for us.
6 score involvements (2nd best for Sydney).
36 HOs to the Lions total of 20.

Did get beaten a couple of times that lead directly to Brisbane goals (once after a clear block), and whilst not a dominant performance I thought he was one of the few that got a tick for his contribution.
I agree. He was good. Not his fault our mids could not win a clearance from his taps. Then, he was actually pretty good around the ground too.

At least he can win the ball. We have no one like that and get exposed over and over again.

This is all hypothetical and we don't know the cap but i would 100% love to have Parish at sydney , but doubt he leaves Essendon .

I mean Jokes aside ill take 45 vote patty cripps , ill take any big splash in the midfield balances Heeney and Mills out a bit and helps defence and forward line.

But didn't we put our cap space into resigning , and getting Adams and Grundy?

Yep. Wasn't impressed with Grundy for the 2nd half of the season TBH.

When you look at Brisbane we are a long way behind if you take into account they had Big O, Coleman, Gardiner and Linc McCarthey missing and they will add Levi Ashcroft this off season as well. Their list depth and quality is the best in the competition.
Who can we steal from them?
