Yeah I'm thinking we'll get F2 back. Otherwise it doesn't look right.
30+39 for 24 and our F2.

So we'd upgrade 30 to 24. And then we'd upgrade 39 to 36ish.

Generally in a trade you have to give them something (Yes, I'm aware of GC points needs this year... it's still ridiculously lopsided). F3 much more likely.

Would much prefer to keep 30 and give up all of the other picks for 24 leaving us with 24 and 30 for this draft.
We will find points for next year, next year.

Yeah. Anyone expecting to pry a second round pick out of GC for a second round pick are just setting expectations way too high, possibly in order to rant on here next week.

Obviously, I could be completely wrong, but I would be surprised mainly due to supply. According to media there are 4-5 teams going after Suns 2nd round picks. I suspect Lions will pay overs if they really want pick 24 otherwise Suns would make a deal with another team. F3 back would be more realistic, IMO.

Anyway, we will find out soon. Enjoy the draft.

I get the idea of paying premium when its at the top end. For example jumping from 12 to 6 etc. By 20s the draft is shallow and pretty speculative already so the market should even out rather than someone paying premium at that level too. That's my thinking.

The other aspect I think is Suns having to get the trade out of the way in the first few minutes before you match Walter or else that 24 will be gone. Expecting a more even trade, but will be very surprised if we're giving up 30 and 39 without getting anything back other than 24.

Yep, this is my preferred outcome. Get 2 picks in the mid seconds and be done with the draft.

IMO, it's pretty simple, Suns will take the best offer. 4-5 teams bidding. 200-300 extra points is not crazy if you're after particular player(s). The deal has to be ready to go when draft starts.

Beyond the problem that multiple teams are making offers for that pick which drives up the price, maybe we don't want both 30 and 39 anyway. Entirely possible the club doesn't fancy anyone in that range.

There’s still quality available in that range I feel we’re after someone in particular most likely Reid who’s linked to Pies in the first round though

Yep and I think Clug will move on,points won’t be a problem

I still think we should keep 30 and 39 and Draft Morris and Schoey instead of whoever is available pick 24 doesn’t make any sense 24 more than likely drops to 30 anyway so 36 and 45 isn’t that bad especially for a club that actually draft well with late picks
But the available players will be exactly the same..

Literally one poster's supposition.

Yep, people continually overlook that, highly rated players like Jed Walter, Ethan Read, Jake Rogers, Jordan Croft, Will McCabe were/are never going anywhere other than their nominated club so they are for all intents and purposes unavailable to us and the other clubs... moving up from our current pick 30 to pick 24 is still an upgrade even if on draft night the actual pick we end up with is pick 31 etc.

Don't forget there are two end of round 1 PP's already in next years draft, so end of round 2 is currently pick 38.

We have later picks as well. The current AFL website draft order has us with 5 picks for the national draft. So we can take 5 picks to the draft, offer Gold Coast picks 30, 39 & 54. Keep 51 for our second pick and 67 for upgrading Carter Michael.

If Hardeman or De Mattia is available at pick 24 (provided that pick trade goes through) then it will be interesting to see if we still go with Archer Reid.

I’m still a bit torn as to whether we should be taking Mitch Edwards. I just think that’s the ruck position sorted for 10 years if we do. And his contested marking is elite so he would be very dangerous forward. His ruck work has the potential to change games too.

It depends how good we think Gillett will be.

Zane Zakostelskey has all the tools to be a great defender but his disposal really lets him down. If we think he could tidy that up then don’t mind that option too.
Zakostelskey gives me Ratugolea vibes, albeit with a little more football nouse.

According to the current draft order list, that's stretching things a bit. Take Hawthorn and Bulldogs out of the mix, because they need their later picks for their own father son kids, there's genuinely only two teams who could offer Gold Coast a significant trade for a points upgrade, Brisbane and Essendon.

And Brisbane has more picks worth more points than Essendon if it became a genuine auction.
