and his trade value then was lot lower than after he bounced back. So it is in our interest to talk about why he should be valued lower and have data on our side.Worpel had more than 2 down years before bouncing back.
this will be something that will only be a good thing if you are the team losing the player. The team trading for the player will lose any leverage and the player will be left out to dry. The issue with us vs the US system is the financial compensation that players get in AFL vs all their sports.Robbo says on Afl360 clubs having more control on contracts and trading players as they wish is coming…hallelujah!!!!!
I can't put myself through listening to it for a third week in a row. Was there anything else notable in the episode?Ned Guy on Gettable this morning with some interesting comments. Sounds like trading two years in to the future with more flexibility is happening this year, and pick purchasing is also on the way (not sure when).
Fantastic news for us.
Trade picks for players, buy more picks. Cap space is finally worth it.
Hypothetical trade alert!
Hawks trade DGB to West Coast for their F3.
Hawks trade Worpel to Geelong for Pick 17 and F2.
Pick 4 and 17 to Gold Coast for Picks 8 & 9.
Pick 9 and Harry Morrison to North for LDU.
Pick 8 and our F2 to Dogs for Baz.
Hawks purchase Pick 6 from Lions.
Battle joins as UFA.
In: Pick 6, LDU, Baz and Battle.

I think he has the traits, just needs to spend time playing in his chosen position, which is hard at present. He may never get to gun status, but he'll be a very solid player for the club.Mackenzie has it. Poise and clean skills. He will be a star.
Agree that Ward hasnt come on quite as well for whatever reason. Still time though
Pretty sure Breust is contracted for next year, isn't he?This reads like it was written by AI

HAWTHORN
The Hawks will surely look to bolster their key defensive stocks over the off-season given their deficiencies in that area of the ground, especially given Sam Frost is nearing the end of his career. Jacob Weitering was reportedly offered a monster deal by St Kilda, could the Hawks make a similar play after unsuccessfully going after Ben McKay and Esava Ratugolea last year? They’ve been linked to Western Bulldogs superstar Bailey Smith who would improve their midfield mix. Blake Hardwick is a restricted free agent and could attract rival interest, especially if he keeps shining as a forward, while Denver Grainger-Barras might also benefit from a change of scenery. Decisions on triple-premiership veterans Luke Breust and Jack Gunston are yet to happen, with the pair getting closer to hanging up the boots.

If he asks to leave you facilitate it and that’s about right unfortunately.Keep DGB
No point giving him away for nothing
Given the cats likely finish about 6th and then slide next year that would rate Worpel around Harley Reid. Fend offs are in vogue it seems!Hypothetical trade alert!

I would not have traded a first round pick for him either…Worpel had more than 2 down years before bouncing back.
I watched it because with my ruptured Achilles I have time to kill and I’m obviously a glutton for punishment. I often think the anti hawks posts are a bit OTT but even today they get players to do a bit to camera about gettable and every time they thank the player. Ginnivan today was the first player and nothing I have never seen that. Not particularly. It was said that Smith is either Hawks or Cats but that’s nothing new.
It wasn’t so bad in previous years, but now Twomey has become a little too confident.
