Trading 14 and our F2 would have left us with F1 and F3 only.

Getting two picks from Carlton means we can now trade a F1 and F2 while maintaining F1, F2, F3.

We turned our first this year into a future 1st and second. Essentially meaning we have a free second rounder to play with now

The 2024 draft has a lot of depth in the top 30.
If someone we like is still on the board around pick 18-24 in this years draft. We will likely trade our F1 to get back in.

just tried to explain how Brisbane were in trouble for matching and in his calcs forgot the 20% discount. Nothing has changed. Barrass is still coming.
There are 2 types of negotiators; bullies like dodoro and Mackie, collaborators like McKenzie. This deal would not have been done without full knowledge of the eagles minimum and likely tigers. By converting a first into more it opens up the possibility to get more for all parties using desperate buyers like Carlton. Pick 14 meant nothing to the eagles if it was to be on traded and Richmond don’t need all their early picks this year they would want some level of spread. It’s all part of the plan it’s obvious and the media know it but that doesn’t generate the clicks and comments.

Depends how you view it. You could say future picks are worth more because of the upcoming DVI changes where picks no longer have points past r3. Also suns have 2 very high end academy talents so will need 2025 second rounders. We are in a very strong position its an excellent trade.
