Premierships are the ultimate goal for players and fans but money is the ultimate success for a business. So just because a club may be lacking in premiership flags doesn’t mean they are not a successful business/club! Anyway stupid thing to be arguing about in this thread so I’ll leave it there! 👍
Clubs are businesses but not like private business

They are effectively a collective of members and exist only to win premierships not participation awards

The only thing they have to ensure from a business pov is not succumb to debt, and provide resources to achieve success

I would rather be like hawthorn and win a premiership or 2 or 3 every decade than be like the Adelaide crows who are much stronger financially yet still fail to deliver.

Go hawks and let’s break the drought and win it next year

Just hear me out! A stop gap style 1 year contract offer to Tom Hawkins to fill the role until Lewis is back and ready.
Come on.

I take it you like your steak burnt to a crisp.

Simply no.

Bad example. The Crows are not financially stronger than Hawthorn - in fact they are not even in the top 4 clubs in the league (unlike Hawthorn)

If you think about it , it's not a surprise that the Dogs would like to get a high value trade for JUH

  • Naughton on a long term contract who can play forward/back
  • Darcy looks an absolute star and game changer
  • JUH is probably the least safe bet of the 3 , especially if the off field stuff has wheels .

Most teams are going for versatile forwardlines .
Dogs need a mid to help Bont so the excess tall forward can be used to get that .

I think if a club can provide a high quality mid in their prime or coming in too it, with a high pick I think they would do it .
They done a similar thing when they split up their ‘rat pack’, kept the most likely in Libba and sent the other two off.

At the same time we get payback over those bloody cats for stealing Isaac Smith. We also get Hawk Hawkins!

I don't want him, purely based on his face.
But the melts down at Geelong would be a thing of beauty. I would love to see Chris Scott after Hawkins kicks a bag and we win by a goal in a preliminary. Scott would surly become Australia's new face for mental health issues.

Amusing that the Suns drafted Rankine and Lukosius together because it would stop the go-home factor and they'll end up both going back home to Adelaide. Gold Coast player retention just crushing it as always.

Well that was the reasoning behind Anderson and Rowell, time will tell how that one pans out.

I mean when you piss away that many first round draft picks a couple of them have to stick eventually.

I’d rather trade Serong than Frost.

Same.

I'm not sold on Serong yet. Haven't really seen anything that stands out as a point of difference for him at AFL level. In fairness to him he hasn't had much opportunity.

I don't mind Dan Houston
