ALEX Cincotta will secure a new deal at Carlton for 2025 when he faces Essendon in the King's Birthday Eve blockbuster on Sunday night.
The 27-year-old needs to play one more game to trigger an extension for a third season at Princes Park after being signed during the pre-season supplemental selection period ahead of last season.
We're here for entertainment. Speculating over whether we're going to pick up Sam Butler or Hugh Davies isn't exactly going to capture the masses.Does a trade period need to be exciting to acquire best 22 players?

We also rarely hear about these types until much closer to trade period as they are far lesser in profile so lack media coverage.
Believe it or not, this already is one.So we should be discussing fictitious trades like acquiring Jeremy Cameron rather than more realistic targets
Perhaps we need a fantasy list management thread
I think the majority of us view it as an outlet for practical options or perhaps a little left field.Believe it or not, this already is one.
And the vast majority of options discussed on here are more 'practical options' because most supporters know where we're at in our list build and cap space etc. Occasionally theres a pie in the sky type discussed and most are quick to point out the low probability of such a trade occurring.I think the majority of us view it as an outlet for practical options or perhaps a little left field.
Fanciful stuff is more comic relief than serious content.
Yep agree. And can’t see us paying big dollars to a player this year.Does a trade period need to be exciting to acquire best 22 players?

You mean think Lever? Steven may is one of the few players who plays basically the same game as weitering .... Often deepest and brilliant readers of the play. Freakish generals. Not CHBs either
Not sure how he would fit “culturally” with our group. Was a wild child, I have no idea how his off field is these days. As I said, interesting. Not sure he is worth Hayward value offers, but does have the profile if we want a genuine goalkicking small forward. (I have sufficient faith in what we have and see bigger priorities, but if it is a free hit not requiring draft capital can see merit)
I’m not sure why we would class him as conditional. The way he is going by the end of the season he could be averaging 20 touches a game and 35 goals a year over the last three seasons in a very average side. Why is there such a love for flashy, CONDITIONAL footballers on this board?
Strange? Harsh?I find this a bit strange.
What has Stengle done the past few years to suggest he wouldn’t fit in culturally with our group? You have questioned how he would fit but then admitted you have no idea how his off field is going, it doesnt make much sense.
We just recruited Hollands who was arrested and charged with drug possession, then suspended by the AFL, without much thought if he would be a bad fit culturally.
Unless there is more to the stories, Stengle was stood down for three incidents which occurred over a 6 month period, one drink driving charge, one possession charge which was weed if i recall and one was being pictured holding a plate that had white powder on it.
Those three things shouldn’t be encouraged and aren’t a good look for a professional athlete, bar the drink driving charge, are the other two any different to what dozens of players do each week, just without getting caught? Since these incidents I can’t recall any bad press regarding Stengle and these indiscretions were four years ago.
Obviously do your due diligence but i think you’re being harsh here.
Strange? Harsh?
Bloke was a loose canon. Widely reported that “only Geelong” had the culture to handle him. Even with that, was Eddie’s role as a minder? 25 yo and still living in the Betts family home (according to an on air throwaway from Eddie) Eddie’s wife has become a player manager specifically for him.
What are the logistics? Is Eddie’s home closer to Geelong than Melbourne? Do living arrangements alter if he moves clubs?
I certainly did say that I am unsure of his off field life currently. That is only fair. I will not blatantly denigrate or write him off, but writing is on the wall that he is better served with some form of stewardship.
He won’t be getting that here. That’s too muchRumoured that he wants 800/900K a season
Thanks, but…Eddie lives in Glen Iris

I live in regional Queensland. Had a single day stopover in Melbourne when 18, moving (reluctantly) to Qld from Tassie, now 63. Had two stints in Central West NSW totalling about a year. Few trips to Brissie and three to Sydney are my experience in the concrete jungles and do not aspire to many more.
I know most on here think the world revolves around Melbourne and surrounds, but, short of consulting maps, I have no idea how that answers my question.
$800k is probably like $650k atm. It’s well and truly on the high side but I think he will get it easily enough. Probably not too much different to what we paid for Martin.Rumoured that he wants 800/900K a season
