I dont think he's deliberately 'bad' he just doesnt appear to have a brain.
Nearly every single indiscretion looks to be a completely spontaneous thoughtless act.
He has no consideration or forethought about actions and consequences.
Like the twitter post today which he deleted 2 mins later.
This why I dont want him at the club, because he is too stupid to change.

He’s also not good enough for the cost/benefit to work out.

Though there is a chance he could mature too.

My thoughts on how we should approach this:

FB: Docherty Weitering McGovern
HB: Williams Marchbank Saad
C: Acres Cerra Walsh
HF: Fogarty McKay Cuningham
FF: Silvagni Curnow Martin

R: TDK Cripps Hewett

Int: Kemp (mid/fwd), Cottrell (fwd/mid), E.Hollands (mid/fwd), Cowan (def)

EMG:
O.Hollands, Motlop, Newman, Lemmey

Fogarty and Cuningham seeing some stoppage looks (particularly centre bounce), Docherty rotated to the wing as required, Jack as the ruck relief (ideally outside the centre bounce).

Big emphasis on blitzing the stoppages and feeding it out to our runners.

We've got a modest improvement in our 2024 points via the trade period - up from 1808 to 1930.

Of course, this is based on 2023 ladder positions, and we're dependent on where Gold Coast, Freo & Doggies finish for the real value of those fourth round picks we've now got. And of course, where we finish next year.

Sounds like classic ADHD, wonder if he’s been diagnosed?

Stupid or lacking a brain looks like the problem when it’s probably his brain not being wired like the general population. In the old days he was probably classed as just a naughty, disruptive, cheeky kid.

My son did exactly the same stupid, impulsive dumb s**t at school and home (not drugs….yet), always on the go, couldn’t hold active concentration for even a minute and had no forethought at all about what he’s about to do will end up as x, just did it. He’s a ripper kid though, loves to tell a story and most of the time has you in stitches.

Been on ADHD meds and now a lot of that stuff he was doing has improved markedly, it took us 13 years and potential expulsion at school to work out maturity was only going to help him so much. Turns out, he ticks every box on both sides of the condition.

I reckon it’s a well under diagnosed medical condition.

It's a fair point, but I'd suspect the club Doc would have diagnosed this and Pies would have been more lenient &/or had mechanisms to better manage him.

Still think a fit Kennedy is a starting 22 player.

Tough on Newman too obviously after a stellar 2023.

Reckon Kemp will get first crack ahead of Marchbank.

JSOS will have to be kicking goals consistently to retain a spot.

Fog and Cuners will feel the heat from Owies (whom everyone undersells), Durdin and Mots.

But agreed, it will be tough to get a spot.

Top 4 team.

With due respect to his training standards, we've never seen a fit Kennedy. Drafted high on pre-injury output, never really held up.

He's in that next line, as is Motlop.
Reckon Kemp will get first crack ahead of Marchbank.
Note that I'm not even giving Kemp a crack at defence, I want him installed at stoppages along with Cerra, Hewett, and Hollands.

Hollands and Kemp can also relieve Fogarty, Martin, Cuningham, and Jack up forward. Thinking more about that, I'd probably pick Ollie ahead of Cottrell depending on how well we can spread from the contest and connect on the outside.

Yes, your thoughts on Kennedy are well known....

Boyd is our first choice back pocket. Kid is very good.

Agree, Kennedy will probably drop out and be used as a backup inside for Cripps .

Newman will be in the starting 22. There is no way he is getting pushed out by Cowan lol.

Not sure why yiu have 3 mid/ fwds on the bench ? We won’t have the rotations for that.

Your starting midfield is vey 1 paced and unbalanced.

Your FWD line outside Curnow lacks firepower

Harry and Martin and EH don't offer firepower?

Boyd and Newman are locks, IMHO

Like this year, Doc won't play back

Motlop starts, Kemp will not play as a mid next year, given his body shape

Too early for Lemmey

Excited about the addition of EH.

If we somehow could bring in my man Mannagh I feel our forward line could look much more balanced.

I also feel CDurdin if fit and healthy can have a massive year.

I want to see our forwards double the tackles inside 50 they produced this year.

I'm keeping a lid on Elijah, picked him up for a bargain price. :heavycheck:
He'll be doing real good just to break into this Carlton side.

And how many goals did he kick after the umps started to work him out?

He’s a 20 year old kid playing at a big club, has the talent.

Had a poor season kicked 12 goals from 14, but if I recall was the sub a few times.

Young players form goes up and down.

More than happy to revisit this next year, he’s a good player and will adapt.

He's got some ability.
What are the knocks on him because some of the negativity is excessive IMO.
That he plays for frees? Murph & Charlie.
That he took drugs? We'd have more than a couple who engage in similar.

That said, my concern over him would be in terms of fit. With a one paced midfield & a defensive unit better suited to a intercept/rebound style of play, we really need to get pressure on the ball carrier & he's never really provided that.

Good points, enquiring or having a chat doesn’t mean commiting.

I’m d love to know if we put our hat in the ring
