I may be wrong, but I think part of the collective bargaining with the AFLPA and AFL means that when the cap raises player salaries raise in line with it. So % wise no one actually has any more cap space.We have discussed whether our players are on contracts in line with the increase in the salary cap, for any club where most st player contracts are not, they are going to have a lot of $$$$ to target players.
The cap rises $2M next year alone, if there was a any free agent that plays an area of need, we should have no hesitation to pay up.
When the cap goes up by $2M in one year, paying AA calibre players $800,000 per year, isn’t crazy money, it will be closer to the norm.
