WHATS the story with Gillett was rated quite highly seems likely to be a rookie at best nowI'm pretty much "at peace" with whatever decision Joe makes.
I'm not particularly keen on the majority of players mentioned. Matt Hammelmann maybe, because he's got that untapped potential aura about him. Or Peter Wright, though he's not likely to move back north.
Probably prefer to pick up one of our academy talls as a late draft selection, or preferably in the rookie draft.
Someone else mentioned that our recruiters have serious questions about his lack of natural aggression in his game.WHATS the story with Gillett was rated quite highly seems likely to be a rookie at best now
Isn't the issue with Lynch a combination of age + walking injury + big contract + we'd need to give him multiple years? Unless someone jumps out, we basically need someone for a year until we can target a juicy fish during FA.
If he redeems himself next year with a strong pre-season, maybe. Other than that, he's just to slow at the moment. We recruited Ryan for this eventuality.
Is he redeemable or did we just get it totally wrong ?
Did not like reading today that the two FA key forwards for next year (Allen and Fogarty) are already in discussions about extensions. You play for two clubs that are picking in the top 5, be a mercenary please!
It looks like Adelaide have promised Fogarty leadership positions, didn't they make him captain for a game or two this season? Be interesting to see what happens.
Ryan is a twig he's not going to make it.If he redeems himself next year with a strong pre-season, maybe. Other than that, he's just to slow at the moment.
I actually think Joe is the hardest player to replace. We almost have to change our entire game plan. Guys that athletic, that tall and that talented don’t grow on trees.Stating the obvious here, but Joe would be the second hardest player to replace on our list, with Andrew the only player I’d have ahead of him in list importance.
There’s no obvious replacement for him out there either. I wouldn’t be against Lynch but that’s a huge risk on that money, everyone else very uninspiring. Jake Ricardi would be decent enough, but with GWS exodus I don’t think they’ll lose any additional players they don’t need too
Short term it will suck. Long term, rejig the cash and go hard at a younger replacement maybe.
But no use worrying too much, as we clearly have the best in the business dealing with these things.
Welcome aboard the Ty Gallop train Nunez. The Hipwood Morris Gallop forward line will dominate in 2025. Just wait baby!
I disliked Dixon and May equallynever understood why people singled lynch out as a mercenary
reality is he gave more years of good service to gold coast than plenty of others who escape that criticism like dixon or may.
Been there done that - got the T-shirt and handed it back.Josh Schache is available. He’d probably want to join us because his dad played with us. Also, he’s a spud that got delisted and no one likes so he’d probably be cheap
Welcome aboard the Ty Gallop train Nunez.
Inaugural members of the Ty train.I think you'll find I was on the train a long time ago
If we go with 2 shit key forwards next year it'll be like sydney in the grand final. Will be rapt if Joe decides he truly wants to play on but very much at peace with it if he doesn't, can you imagine the amount of scrutiny we will subject him through each time he doesn't chase or his body language seems off?
AFL is hard, pre-seasons brutal, it is not something you can be less than 100% committed to.
Key to how we set up will be whether we go to 5 on the bench this year, if we do it's a no-brainer in my mind to play either Fort or Smith and I am really keen to see Smith get a decent run, correct me if i'm wrong but he's 23 year old right? A baby for a ruckman, but I have already seen him create contests and bring the ball to the ground and his tap work is good.
Eric once he gets over the osteitus will be much more mobile and regain penetration on his kicking, Logan is on a stellar trajectory, we welcome back Linc and our forward line is super dangerous. Cam, Kai, Linc and Cal are really good overhead marks so all Smith or Fort need to do is bring the ball to ground, and bring Charlie into play.
Bringing in a Casboult or Lynch also takes a list spot we could us to draft a young KPF anyone we pick would be most unlikely to debut for 2 years but is assured of playing with decent players in the reserves, a team with our current strength should have one eye on the future rather than casting about for a veteran we hopefully wont need.
Whatever the coaching group do I will be happy with, but for some reason all I can think is football atm and I needed to unload this stream of thought.
