He's our second best inside mid behind Cripps, has versatility as a forward target and played every single game this year. We've lost the plot here. AND HOW ON EARTH HAVE THEY NOT LOCKED UP OWIES??? WHO KICKS THE GOALS IF HE'S GONE?
Owies kicks goals but plays like a third tall at 180cm rather than an actual small forward. We need players that pressure and can crumb. But no need to trade him unless we are properly compensated - hopefully a 2nd.

With Kennedy and Carrol on the way out it seems … who are these mid upgrades we’re bringing in I wonder ?

Clubs don’t make these decisions if there isnt something else going on in the background.

You would think so.

However, I believe the salary cap will become an issue when it’s time to re-sign TDK and Weitering once their contracts expire. Now might be the best time to trade some other players while they still hold value. The club could consider front-loading some of Weitering and TDK’s contracts in 2025, even before their new deals begin, if negotiations allow.

In addition, they could bring in draftees or more affordable players (like Haynes, for example), and although opinions may differ, the club might feel they can get similar performance in the roles that players like Kennedy and Owies currently fill. Owies’ value has risen significantly this off-season.

Hopefully, we can also find a way to squeeze in a bigger name, like Houston but offloading these guys may not mean we are getting a bigger fish.

I don't think that's accurate at all. A year or two ago pretty much all the mids were getting some time in different positions to build flexibility -- Cerra, Hewett, even Walsh to an extent. This year it's been all about the injuries. Without them, there's every reason to think Kennedy would've played the whole year predominantly as a mid. His use in different roles is not some kind of knock on his value as a mid, it's a reflection of his versatility and willingness to put the team first.

I wish I could say I was surprised to be pointing this out, but unfortunately we seem to get the same narrative on this board whenever someone sacrifices their primary role for the team. Last year it was JSOS, this year it's Kennedy.
It's been reported, and rumoured on here, that he's free to go. Not sure that happens if they do rate him that highly, not just a forum whipping boy.
