Let's just say Warner is off the table for this year and Pickett/Bolton are in play. Would it not benefit us more for Pickett to just come out now and ask for the trade? Puts the onus on both Melbourne and Richmond to get the deals done to secure the better assets. 9 and 16. 10 and F1 are the packages. Who wants pick 9 more?

Tom Morris just said Melbourne won’t trade Pickett.

I'm surprised anyone would legitimately think otherwise.
I still doubt Pickettt will request a trade formally (as opposed to his usual yearly homesick musings,) but even if he did the only conceivable way they're letting hin go is if they are luring some other massive fish in the singular or plural and need the capital. There's no way Petracca would have agreed to stay of he wasn't given assurances they were still having a crack at a flag. They still think they're in the window.

We dont really know he's actually properly trying to get here. I think realistically, if there isnt some serious rumour build up or official request by Monday next week, you can forget about it.

Agree. Like Warner Melbourne would be crazy not to hold him to contract

With Pickett being contracted long term we absolutely need him to come out and request a trade publicly to put pressure on the Dees. We need his camp to make Melbourne start talking to us.

You'll notice quite a number of the trades just need something coming back that the club can sell to the supporters and the position changes from "never going to happen" to the door opening.

Maybe Melbourne end up with Chad Warner

Richmond buying that Brisbane pick #18 could be the first trade of the period?

We could definitely work out a deal, but I think given we have Rioli going to GCS and they've apparently agreed P6 will be included, then I would be eyeing off their P12 also and making sure there are points to go back to them for Lombard bid.

But yes, P18 is an option. RFC may as well trade on all of their later picks IMO. That's 39, 41, 47, 57, 66, 72, and it looks like end 2nd round for Graham compo which will be around 40-45. All of those together should be enough to push close to a top10 pick?

Total about 1800-1900 points and I can't see us using all those picks when we will likely have 5-6 in the top 20.

If there's any chance of Pickett, then we need to:

1. Complete Bolton trade on day one
2. Guarantee to Pickett you'll get him over if he requests
3. Put pressure on him to make the move
4. Trade for Henry so he can play with his best friend
5. Open up Gucci store at Cockburn Arc (optional)

It's entirely going to depend on the list space available for Brisbane since they can only take as many draft picks as they have open primary list spots.

So far Brisbane has just Jarryd Lyons retiring, but they will need to cut another five to fit those picks in.

That’s the trick, Brisbane and potentially GC need someone to carry the junk picks into the draft for them, GC committed to bringing in Rioli and Noble and potentially Dusty. only losing Lucosious so far, plus have reduced list size this year. Richmond losing a few players but likely have 5 first round picks, how many 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks are they able to carry? Will they have 10 list spots open?
