If that’s even modicum of truth in that along with that rumour his management actually asked the question to us … then yeah Mr Kelly’s character is even more questionable than I even thought
There’s more a message in “ never burn your bridges when choosing a destination club “.

Using this:

Then using thirty eight primary list spots:

Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney haven't had their list changes publicly yet.

Carlton: 4 picks
Pies: 2 picks
Essendon: 4 picks
Fremantle: 5 picks
Geelong: 6 picks
Gold Coast: 3 picks
GWS: 5 picks
Hawks: 1 pick
Melbourne: 6 picks
North: 5 picks
Port: 3 picks
Richmond: 7 picks
St Kilda: 6 picks
West Coast: 2 picks
Bulldogs: 3 picks

I believe these picks are after the additions of Cumming, Haynes, Perryman, Graham
Can't be bothered doing this for everyone but we've effectively delisted one rookie (Voss in, Kuek and Stanley out) so the only way we get to 38 players is by upgrading a rookie. Four picks maximum unless we delist someone else.

Tbh the numbers you've posted are very much the very start of forming a picture of what's going to happen on draft night.

There's so much to go, I would expect all the clubs to have built their own little tracker to identify which clubs have surplus picks or surplus list spaces.

Isiah Winder is a late invite to the WA State Combine.

Thinking there must be a bit of interest now. Probably one to watch for us as a DFA if we trade too many of our picks.
Can't Souths have any nice things?

Serious. Barrett is an absolute bonehead.
Yeah but he's just a facilitator on there and I think he's pretty good at that. I like the energy and knowledge of Johnson and Jenkins seems to be putting in at least a little bit of research.

I actually found their discussion today fun

Anyone know roughly how much salary space we have each year like could we genuinely get bolton Warner and then resign key players in the future aswell or we going to have to push players out

There is probably about 5 - 10 people on the planet that actually know the cap situation. Only one of them, Wallsy78 is on this site

However, you would think it's very difficult to add between 2 and 2.5m of salary to the cap and not lose someone decent in the next few years

Where are those easily won premierships of which you speak?
I just don't buy it that our midfield is good enough. Our midfield is elite at winning clearances and bog average at generating i50, especially meaningful i50. Part of it game style sure, and part of it is not having the cattle.
The predominant problem with Warner is cost, which is why as a total package Bolton is the best bet and the one that sensibly we are chasing hardest, because he costs less and he can help BOTH the midfield and forward line improve
reminds me of brisbane. but the emergence of bailey, rayner, ashcroft alongside people like mcclugage means they have a number of mid options and mid/forward options who can now take advantage of neale, berry, dunkley formerly jarrod lyons,..etc. who used to generate a lot of clearances.

by take advantage i mean they move the ball forward in a positive manner.

I think it was on Hard Ball Gets (not 100% sure) but I remember Rhino talking about how we hadn't committed the increased cap space from the new CBA to future contracts and that's why it seems like we have an endless bucket of cash at the minute. We've also recently had Sonny and Walters go from big contracts to average, and I'm guessing they'll both be off the books completely after next year which frees up 700k or so. I also think Tabs was still on pretty decent coin as well which is off the books now.

It is absolutely enough to get 2 and hold onto everyone from how the discussions seem but I can't help but feel like landing all 3 would mean we lose a Darcy, Cox or Brayshaw.

Bookmarking this post for when Josh Jenkins does his deep dive list analysis of freo 😂

Just added up the numbers you put and it’s less than 62 spots (adds up to 62 but clubs with less than two rookie spots available have less spots than what the numbers suggest. As we all know most teams actually go with 36 on the senior list though - there’s an absolute ****tonne still to happen in other words.

I have a spreadsheet I’ve used the last few years which I haven’t bothered to start using again but the last two years there’s been around 80 places available on senior lists prior to the draft. Might start using it again as things actually start happening trade and free agency wise tbh
