Getting Baker and Warner in sets us up for a long long time.

We essentially don’t need to look at the midfield for at least another 3-4 years if it happens.
We could trade Ras, trade Brodie
We have enough rucks, we have enough key backs.

We can then spend the next 2-3 drafts shoring up small and medium forwards, key forwards and running backs.

We only have Brayshaw left to sign of our key players.

Throw everything at it

Pardon my intrusion.

Hearing Charlie Cameron has interest in returning to WA and you guys have enquired. What would you be willing to part with?

Haha the Warner thread has gone nuts on the main draft and free agent board. 😂😂😂

Five pages in already since yesterday and a few very worked up swans supporters!
I’m not sure if he will request a trade this year, but Warner putting contract talks on hold was not a surprise at all to Sydney. Been told for the last couple of months Warner would not commit to the swans beyond 2025.

Freo not making a comment on the matter whilst WCE GM spruiking possibilities for their fans and members gives me the confidence that Freo are as some have put it “up to their eyeballs in it”.

Cameron still kicking 1.6 goals a game and if there is anything to the rumour, clearly the whole preseason trip thing has a lot of weight. I'd be ok with the Saints pick or working it into upgrading to the Lions first or something.

Hard to argue he wouldn't still be a big upgrade for us

It's not true, but it is true.

It's not true because Chad Warner has never been out of contract at Sydney, ever, not even close. Always signing a year or more out from the end of his current deal.

It's true because we did try and get him to come home then anyway.

It's why him turning down his offer from Sydney is extra significant to me, he gets things done well ahead of time.
He re-signed in April 2021 when he was OOC end of 2021, so more like 6 months out. If I were to guess when it happened it would be around then: the writing was on the wall for Cerra plus Warner wasn't the big name he is now, so it makes sense that that would be when we tried to lure him and that that's why it wasn't the big news story it should've been.

2022 onwards makes little sense given the Jackson pursuit, plus he re-signed end of 2022 when he was OOC 2023.

I think Cameron in 2025 and 2026 would be awesome. Not sure he could be expected to play at a high level much longer than that, even if we have to give him a contract to end of 2027 or 2028. It does give us time to develop Delean and Simpson and monitor how Collard is developing.

I hope we put Baker to the side. He might be the most gettable, but we can't be sacrificing the chance to get more important pieces of the puzzle. Let him go to WC or stay at Richmond.

The talk that being jackson, warner and sharp played together and being friends there is a possibility warner request trade to freo. It may depend on how they see things? If all 3 close together and wants to play together warner may choose freo? But being friends if all 3 has an attitude to play for the club they supported growing up then he may choose eagles because the other 2 chosen the same way? Haha...
Hope neither becomes a factor and also not sure how close they are and he take a decision based on his football career.

Suspect Chad isn't on big dollars for 2025 (given he signed before getting good) so even if the Swans could put up something competitive salary wise for 2026 onward, they are probably still 600-800k short in 2025. Might be why we have all the picks this year.

Combine getting home with an extra $2m over 7 (or whatever number it is) would be tempting to anyone.

If he's kicking 1.6 a game he'll fit in perfectly here ;)
