Those toilets would’ve been handed on one of our flights. We should get in Eagles ear and see if we can poach them before they deal it for Baker.

If the toilets are part of the package for Bolton, the 3 first round picks become understandable.

Probably would want a future 4th thrown in and to proper win the trade, Tigers pay for 1 years worth of toilet paper.

Actually, might need 2 years worth with the amount of crap we dish out in 4th quarters…

Fremantle Dockers CEO Simon Garlick promises aggressive approach to trade table to secure more elite talent

Fremantle chief executive Simon Garlick has promised to be as aggressive as possible at the trade table to secure more elite talent, saying his team’s poor finish to the season showed they need to add more class to the list.
The Dockers slid from third on the ladder in round 20 to 10th just four weeks later after failing to win another game.
Coach Justin Longmuir said the 20-point defeat form Port Adelaide on Sunday summed up their season as the players fumbled under pressure, missed shots at goal or gave away free kicks at crucial times.
Fremantle have three first round picks this season and have been heavily linked to Shai Bolton, Liam Baker and Chad Warner.
Garlick said the club had a clear plan for how to take the next step.
“We won’t hesitate in doing whatever we need to improve our list and our ability to close out games,” Garlick told The West Australian.
“Clearly, we have some opportunities with a strong draft hand, and how that eventuates will obviously be clear in in time.
“We’ve put together a list that we think has the foundations to challenge for premiership, and there absolutely needs to be improvement in that. We won’t be backwards in exploring every option we’ve got.

“We’ll certainly be going hard at the targets we think are appropriate. But we won’t be doing it at all costs.
“We’ve got to make sure that if you do have the opportunity to bring experienced talent into your club, it’s got to be at the right price. It can’t be at the complete expense of culture.
“There’s numerous considerations we’re going to make, but we certainly won’t be shy in ensuring we give ourselves the best opportunity to continue to grow and improve.”
The Dockers have had a stable defence for several years led by captain Alex Pearce and All-Australian backman Luke Ryan. The midfield’s power was on show all season with Caleb Serong, Andrew Brayshaw and Hayden Young constantly winning the ball.
Fremantle showed an improved ability to score this season with key forward Josh Treacy making huge improvements, but the team still ranked 10th in attack at the end of the home and away season.

“It’s just not being able to finish and execute and capitalize on the opportunities that we provided,” Garlick said.
“We were a top four defence and an elite contested ball team and clearance team within the middle of the ground. So us being able to finish with class under pressure when the moment demands it, is something we need to continue to get better at.”
Garlick backed coach Justin Longmuir after the club extended his contract by 12 months before the season began.
Fremantle have made the finals just once since Longmuir and Garlick joined the club in 2020 and the Dockers have fallen short of an ambitious Strategic Plan to have three top-four finishes and a premiership by the end of next season.
The Dockers’ re-build began in 2016 and they’ve been overtaken by several clubs including Hawthorn this season. But Garlick said they were following their own plan.
“We’re certainly not shying away from putting ourselves on the hook to achieve our ultimate aim, and that is to win premierships. That’s what we’re here for. So we’re not looking to make excuses or rationalise why we haven’t hit that mark yet,” he said.

“We set this at the end of 2020, so judge us upon that timeframe and what we were looking to achieve then.
“We are as impatient as anyone. I know our members and fans quite rightfully are also. Whilst we want it to happen yesterday or a soon as humanly possible, we want to set ourselves up to have a sustained crack at contending for premierships.
“There’s precedents of clubs like Geelong and Sydney and a number of others who continually contend. So every decision we made has been made with a long term outlook.”

If paying 3x firsts to richmond to get the cover the bulk of the salary, allowed us to up an offer to a free agent to secure them, does that make it ok?

I think it's very rare for anyone to know trade price at this stage and if it was stupidly all three firsts, you'd get a tonne of salary and two very earlier 2nds coming back like Cameron. Don't use all your melts up to early, it's a marathon, nit a sprint

FWIW.

I don't think we give three firsts.

I think it's more the club has given assurances to the player that they'll get it done, even if it does cost 3x firsts.

this is looking more like the Weller trade.

Surely we haven't given assurances that we will get me.

Can we hire Dodo, just for trades please.

We've done a Weller?

Lets hope Bolton doesn't blurt it out on trade radio.

Yes.

They’d want to be paying all of it for three years. 🤢

Would expect there’s something back, also don’t think it will come to that, just that we may be prepared to pay that.
Yeah as you said before the season hasn't ended yet and that it is probably the starting price for Richmond, doesn't mean it will end up being that. It is Richmonds job to extract as many picks as possible from us but it is also in their interest to accelerate the rebuild of the club.

You can melt all you want about speculated trade costs, but the more we give up, the more salary Richmond will be paying. Whether it is 9+10 or 9+17 or 9+10+17, throw in variable amounts of picks coming back (i.e. either none or 3 seconds or anything in between) ... they will all be similarly "fair" trades, just with different salary cap relief attached.

Was always the risk stockpiling 3 first round picks in the same year, teams simply want what you have and when you have an abundance of something the value of each isn't as high to you. Look at how GC and GWS treat first round picks, they have literally given them away in the past.

dont need to be attached to draft picks at this point in time, 18 year olds wont make the difference for us, not to mention we have some good ngas coming through in the coming years. if we can get bolton and a chunk of his salary paid then we make it happen for sure. imagine if we had a player that was not fumbling and was eager to take a shot at goal on the weekend!!

Caroline Wilson the one eyed Tiger fan laughed at the idea Bolton is worth 2 first rounders ffs. Even she’s saying he’s too inconsistent to be worth that. I want Bolton but c’mon let’s not go silly.
Apologies if I’m intruding.

She doesn’t represent the opinion of all of us.

I’ve always been a huge Bolton fan, to develop into the player he has is a testament to the man he is and the support the club have given him.

Now to his footy ability. He is on the same level as Serong and Brayshaw imo he would compliment them along with Young and make them even better players.

From the outside looking in Freo lack a point of difference/class in the forward half. Bolton could be the player that completes the puzzle.

And speaking on his ‘inconsistency’s’ there’s a lot to factor in all that. But I will say one thing, it has been rare to see Shai play a bad game in Perth. Always looked like he went up a level there. Plus.. he knows the MCG and BIG crowds so if you guys make the GF he would bring good experience.

I’m starting to sound like a salesman.
But im just saying that if Freo are serious about getting Bolton then it will most likely have to involve a draft pick higher than 9/10.

Freo are in the here and now business, Bolton plays in the final 4 games of the season for Freo and you guys are top 4 looking at home finals until the GF.

We traded Pick 6 + for Prestia at the end of 2016 and haven’t looked back since.

How would everyone feel if we traded Sean Darcy but we were able to bring in both Warner and Bolton ?
Pretty rubbish, LJ is NOT a first ruck on exposed form, I was not impressed with Reidy and Knobel is still a baby.

If Sean is able to put the past 2 seasons worth of injuries behind him he will win us games from the ruck and we might also unlock some more consistent form for LJ.

3 firsts is overs, Jeremy Cameron is the relevant trade here.
Better player, but GWS didn't get three firsts

Bolton, baker,Warner for picks 9,10,17,27,63 it possible to work something out with these picks to get all 3 ?
I think we can cancel out Baker. WCE bound apparently.

On to the other two.

I would go- 9, 27 and Erasmus for Bolton.

10,17 and Brodie for Warner. Sydney wouldn’t mind Brodie and would back themselves to get footy out of him.
