Blight doesn't do much off the ball.
Gets easy disposals.

Last year people were excited about Buller.
How's he going?

I don't think many people were getting overly excited about Buller or Brandon Ryan. The two of them had obvious limitations with their speed and overall athleticism.

What's your thoughts on Blight's one on one defending?

Kept Jono Marsh goalless in a final last year.
Marsh had had a very influential year before that.

The wafl is a level below SANFL where we got Pink.

Maybe we have to "don't try, don't know" because.......
Only going to cost us $90,000

Probably the best defender in thr WAFL at the moment. Great size but obviously the gap between the AFL is massive. His a committed as to make it so hopefully we take the punt.

Fullback material benny makay style, plonk in the back and wrestle with other gorillas.

Think I'm taller than Matthew Elliot was... Do we need to question this young mans parentage? Unless his mother was a Amazon

202cm Will Elliott, the son of Test match cricketer Matthew

Matthew Elliott is listed at 188cm. Doesn't seem a stretch to have a kid being 202cm to me.

Local paper in WA saying Blight, a local lad, to North! Ha ha

AFL Mid-Season Draft 2024: Peel Thunder defender Jacob Blight a chance to become No.1 pick

Peel Thunder defender Jacob Blight is being touted as a potential No.1 pick in the mid-season rookie draft as North Melbourne look to bolster their struggling defence.

Blight, 22, has become one of the best defenders in the WAFL since crossing to the Thunder from Claremont before the start of the 2023 season.

The 196cm, 102kg defender has taken his game to another level in 2024, averaging 20 disposals and nine marks in the opening five games.

This includes 22 disposals and 13 marks against West Coast on Optus Stadium in round four.

Blight has come into the spotlight not only because of his form but because the Kangaroos need to add ready-made key defenders after losing Ben McKay as a free agent last year.

Winless to start the season, North Melbourne are almost certain to hold the No.1 pick and with Collingwood and Brisbane among the clubs needing defenders, he could be the first name read out.

The defender has previously trained at Peel’s AFL-aligned club Fremantle.

Blight is one of a handful of West Australians who are being considered for the mid-season rookie draft that will be held on May 29.

West Perth forward Jasper Scaife is attracting plenty of interest after booting eight goals in his first three games at league level, having made his debut in round one.

Former Port Adelaide ruckman Brynn Teakle is almost certain to go after returning to East Fremantle this year.

Teakle is averaging 16 disposals, 39 hit-outs and has kicked five goals – including three against Subiaco at the weekend – since returning to the Sharks.

Sharks teammate Jed Hagan is also garnering interest having returned from the Power’s VFL side to become a strong medium-sized forward.

Hagan has kicked 10 goals in five games, including a career-high four goals in round two against Claremont.

It is understood Essendon list boss Adrian Dodoro attended East Fremantle’s win over Subiaco at Leederville Oval at the weekend.

How does the selection get decided for the MSD? Same approach or different from the main draft? It would be interesting to hear from the club if they are taking a best available or needs based approach. Anyone with any insights?

Then if needs based, and assuming it's a tall, what they see as the greater need KPD or KPF. FWIW I am in the FPF camp.

Either way we could do with some luck coming our way and the best available happens to be our need. Not that I see the MSD as producing a star. But someone who is able to contribute and play a role (as Kallan looks to be doing) would be nice.
