How many times do we see those blokes slide in the draft to be picked up and spoken about as a steal?
They are then out of the system in 2 years.
It rarely turns out well.
Yes it’s the pick number. The last pick number with points is pick 54 which is nominally the last pick in round 3 before you add in bid matches and FA compo which will push out round 3. Round 4 selections may come back in on draft night if next year goes back to being a mid-50s draft haul, by the time that occurred it’d be fairly irrelevant from a bid-matching perspective.

Went on the club website to watch highlights of the new draftees and wow was I disappointed with how they put them together. Lazy work. Less than a minute of absolutely nothing. Better off looking somewhere else.

My observations from the highlights Hayes is pacy and exiting but a bit of headless chook, West is a solid boy but a bit undersized and double grabs a lot.
Cochrane oozes class, really impressed by what I saw.

What happened to the round four pick we were holding?
It looks like it somehow ended up at the Bulldogs (pick 62) but I couldn’t see any trades for it?
It looks like our higher picks didn’t change, so maybe we traded it out for a future pick?

Have to happy with the draft and trade period. We improved the core list, and addressed needs for the future.

Good to see we drafted for need this year, and didn't go the "best available" option. .We covered our bases with a key back, key forward and forward/Mid/Wing.
Hopefully we see development in these boys over the next 12 to 18 months, and we have got one or two diamonds in the rough
I like the look of Cochran. I think he could be the one that develops the quickest, into that versatile, intercept marking key back. Looks like he could play on the wing as well, with his endurance. Obviously has the ability to break the lines from D50 so has Darcy Moore characteristics in terms of his athleticism.
"Big" Charlie West, will take time as a key forward, but looks powerful. I will be following his development the most in the VFL next year. Has power and speed off the mark, so l'm expecting he's that crash and bash key forward. Love to see this kid come on and develop into a very good key forward. At only 194 cm, l'm thinking he's the Darcy Fogarty type key forward. Excited by him though.
Really like Will Hayes. X factor type, only slight, so will need time to develop physically, but looks to have all the skill sets on both sides of the body, along with speed, evasiveness, and good endurance. Touted the best wingman in the WAFL colts, so alot to work with, and again his development over the next 2 years, will be followed closely. Excited by what he can bring to the side though in the future...

Is there any chance that AJ ends up at another club in the rookie draft?
I am confident that Leggy will be back, but l just have a feeling another club may take the punt on AJ....

Since 2020, I’ve loved the direction the club has taken when going into the draft.
We don’t just draft pure athletes who are speedy and can run, but we draft pure footballers.
Don’t be surprised if one, or two, or all of the recent draftees make it.

Going to be an exciting rookie draft, especially for us.
A few are watching in the hope both markov and Johnson get drafted by someone else
Even if Markov or Ash got picked up by someone else I wouldn't be expecting us to pick up a rookie. We'd just leave their spot open for an SSP wouldn't we?
