If we could snag Tommy Sims and Alix Tauru around them picks(ranking numbers), I would be over the moon...

On SM-G991B using BigFooty.com mobile app

Who would be upset if we took both the Witlocks? Jacks numbers are freak teritory but is raw for me in terms of talent. I like that they can play both sides of the ground though better options for KPD available.
FWIW I wouldnt trade out of next years first round unless a godfather offer. Top end of next year likely to have stars, more so thewn this years and we are likely a top 4 pick with our list profile

If we walked away from draft with 2 of Armstrong, Hotton or Berry from first round I would be very happy.
Top end mids all have big question marks for me… though Draper less so for me now.

Why are we so keen to come up with these deals that see us lose pick 2?

The top 3 or 4 in the draft look absolute class which we badly lack.

Our midfield isn’t as strong as what people think.

We have LDU who is out of contract next year, Sheezel, Wardlaw, Powell…

Simpkin? Please

McKercher hasn’t played there yet. Duursma the same.

We have lost Thomas JHF and didn’t get Reid.

Pick 2 should get you a “complete package” mid. So far we’ve one of those and that’s Harry.

I'd go with quantity over quality when drafting 18-19 year old KPPs.

We might have drafted two AA KPPs with picks 72 and 73. Comben is a great talent with pick 31.
Early days but Maley looks alright and he was rookie drafted.

Our AA FF and potential AA ruckman go alright. Another few of them would be handy.

I dont think this draft has that player. Top end isnt what last few years have been. Thats why this deep into the season we dont know who is going at 1 let alone top 3. Honestly i could see Ashcroft (Prob most deserving 1), Smith, Langford, FOS, Draper (my fav of top ones), Trainor, Armstrong, Reid. All potential top 3.

You can’t make this shite up.

You got to laugh...great way to a). get them to a club and b). keep them close to mum and dad...better trawl through births, deaths and marriages and find that piece of paper that your wife side has some aboriginal heritage.

Oh and l do believe you too "Cochrane, who played 54 games for Port after 50 at North Melbourne and worked at the Power as development coach, has not requested that his sons be tied to Port Adelaide in the draft as other players, such as Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, have been.
He has merely asked that they have the opportunity to train and be coached in the academy for multicultural and Indigenous boys and girls."
Yeah right...just so happens your second, 194cm, 16yo son is projected to be a top 5 candidate in 2026.

Reading this and seeing Sanders in a bulldogs guernsey makes my blood boil!!

I remember the days when Stuey was a highly rated 16yo. About that height too. Geez, the wraps on him were massive. Then I saw him play…..

Yeah pick 22 or so will be interesting. Hope we don't give it up for an ageing mid from another team. I get that we need experience players bought in but 22 will be very important pick for our future i reckon.
Its going to be so interesting, if on the off chance we used our second round pick for an experienced mid from another club then there is no doubt we will be trading in a future 1st / 2nd to get our key forward.

Trainor has been mentioned around the top 5 but those other talls are more speculative.

We should be calling out FOS or Draper at pick 2. Bluechip class midfielder. Best available.

Our second pick we need to go tall and there looks enough around. If we can trade up into the teens and grab Jack Whitlock, this should be our aim.

Not splitting our top 2 pick.

I believe Moti was a huge fan.

Funny i was at a game cant remember which one or what year, it was long ago tho and pretty sure Cochrane was still playing. Any sitting next to a young fella chatting all things North and Stuey - then i said to him, damn what your saying reminds me so much of this guy on the forums. Sure it enough, it was our (not so young any more Moti). Was a good day chin waggin with him.

If we could land Zak Johnson or Archer Day-Wicks at our third. That would be a huge steal.

Chock full of confidence after his exploits at VFL level, Jagga Smith returned to Talent League play with a bang, racking up over 40 possessions in a dominant display. His craft at stoppage is unmatched at this level, and he used it to drive his chargers team forward throughout the game. He was involved in everything in general play, from helping to rebound out of defense to threading balls onto the chest of leading forward and even snagging a goal himself.

Yeah what a pile of bollox....the supposed purpose of the academies is to get kids from non-traditional backgrounds into the afl system. Heeney for example played Union as a kid.....how in the hell does that apply to blokes like Blakey and now Cochrane.

Very impressive. However with that physique he'd be pushed aside at AFL level. Great draft pick but might take 2 pre seasons and lots of VFL before throwing him into the Big time.

Na. Our midfield should be fine. We have invested enough there, it's time to balance the team. We need small forwards, tall forwards, an intercept/rebounding defender and speed everywhere. LDU, Sheezel, Wardlaw, McKercher, Simpkin, Powell with Duursma and Payne to come when fit enough. If the coaches can't develop a quality midfield out of what we have then we need new coaches. Geelong are top four and their midfield doesn't have half the talent. But they have a balanced list with guns on all lines.

Its said Draper's forward craft is pretty solid with his pace and skill he'd be a handful when playing forward. Then of course much needed pace n spread when thrown in the middle

He looks great. And if we were to take a midfielder they need to be versatile like him. But does a small upgrade in the midfield (from say Powell to Draper) improve us as much as upgrading our state league quality second and third talls or getting a couple of quality small forwards on our list? We don't have anyone except RHJ at the moment, while the top teams are playing three or four. We keep putting off balancing our list or thinking or trying to do it with a pile of DFA's and MSD picks, it isn't working.

Also, surely the South Australian junior pathways program is not so flawed that the son of a 100 game AFL player needs to be attached to Port Adelaide's academy in order to receive sufficient development coaching for his best shot at getting drafted.
