Updated Rankings for September

Should be noted that this isn't a phantom draft, it's purely my personal rankings.

Notable changes:
- FOS dropping to 5. Just can't have him ahead of those who's output this season is undeniable. Do I still think he has a stack of upside and would be perfect for us at 2? Absolutely, but I simply can't look past the form of the 4 above him.

- Jobe Shanahan, Murphy Reid, Alix Tauru, Alex Dodson and Cooper Hynes improve their positioning in the top 30

- Jesse Dattoli, Josh Murphy and Harry Oliver all improve their standings just outside the top 30.

- James Barrat, Nath Sulzberger and Pat Retchsko enter the top 50 for the first time this season.

Great work as usual; the knock on Langford seems to be athletic? Any thoughts on that aspect?

Is Jesse Dattoli similar to Zac Bailey?

He looks like a jet.

Great work as usual; the knock on Langford seems to be athletic? Any thoughts on that aspect?

In the pre-season he tested poorly for speed and endurance and was below average for agility. I think throughout the season though he has improved his running capacity significantly, the eye test suggests that he covers the ground no worries. He is a bit one paced, but he still gets from contest to contest. He may struggle to adapt to the speed of the AFL, but his form suggests he'll make the step up and find a role.

I reckon he is pretty similar to Jack Ziebell, but with more finesse in his disposal and decision making.

Where do you think Taj Hotton lands roos_fanatic08? I understand he projected to be a top 5-10 pick, and recall Adam Cooney saying on radio earlier in the year that he dominated his Geelong College team when they played, and thought he could be star and AFL level. We might not be willing to take the risk, but seems a likely type to be picked up and locked away by someone like Geelong before eventually becoming a star.

roos_fanatic08 is Oliver Hannaford still likely to go 50+? Seems to have exploded the last few weeks and could be a real excitement machine as a small(ish) forward.

I reckon he is going to have some teams that really fancy him from that pick 30 point onwards. Hannaford and Hugh Boxshall would be the next 2 I'd have in the top 50 if I could squeeze them in.

He is one who is very very hard to rank. The ACL that Brayden George suffered seen him drop considerably in his draft year. I expect Taj to be taken somewhere in that 8-20 range. I couldn't imagine him slipping further than that.

Taj has an incredible amount of talent and if he didn't do his ACL he very well have pushed into top 5 calculations.

Really appreciate your huge amount of work there RF. Just interested on your thoughts re Armstrong who is undisputably considered the #1 Key forward prospect. At 193cm, a touch undersized do you think (some mids are taller!) especially when you consider we are well stocked for medium forwards in Zurhaar, Curtis, Duursma given the seeming desire to take a key forward? Personally think we need to focus on bringing in players with high footy IQ and who can hit targets by hand and foot consistently and ideally hits the scoreboard. I don't mind the idea of splitting 2, if it nets us a midfielder who fits that mould, plus Trainor, and then take best available key forward, perhaps Sims or one of the other you've identified. Or do you think Armstrong is a real standout and we should really do what we can to take him in the top 10 however our pick pans out (ie 2 or split)? Also interested in your thoughts on Moraes specically. Seems to have good numbers, rarely plays a bad game and consistently hits the scoreboard...under the radar a bit? Any real knocks on him or question marks if he makes it at the next level? Thanks in advance RF.

Great work roos_fanatic08!!
IF we are able to split pick 2, able to get 6 & 9 or 6 & 10 (whatever tiggers get for Bolton and Rioli), try and grab GC's #26 - l'd take Trainor, M.Whitlock, Bo Allan and Alix Tauru using your list.
Trainor & M.Whitlock gives the verstaility to play them back or forward and in M.Whitlock's case, in the ruck as well.
B.Allan will be ready to go day one at HBF whilst you ease him into the mid mix as a contested big bod with acceleration or HFF.
Alix Tauru - retires LMac,

Thanks mate, appreciate the feedback.

Personally, I don't have that much separating the likes Armstrong, Jobe Shanahan, Jack Whitlock and Kayle Gerreyn, even Matt Whitlock and Jonty Faull I don't have that far behind in terms of their potential. I don't think any of them will be realistic options with pick 2. So, in the event we did split pick 2 I'd be happy to take any one of those along with another midfielder or small forward (Berry).

Souup provided the updated heights from pre-season testing and Harry Armstrong was 195cm, so I think he'll be a genuine KP Tall at AFL level, so I don't think that's much of a concern. There aren't many tweener (190-193) key forward types in this draft thankfully.

Early days, I had Moraes in that 8-12 range. It's not so much that he has slipped a heap because of his output, I just think others have gone past him as they have more potential upside at AFL level. There is no doubt that he is a real productive and reliable type, and has no worries finding the footy, but it's lack of damage and his turnovers that really put an asterisk on his game. He has good running capacity, but outside of that doesn't have any standout athletic traits. Reminds me a bit of Ryan Bastinac, really solid footballer, but just doesn't quite have that point of difference to be top tier.

I wouldn't take Allan. No more players who can't kick.

He can kick and he'll hit targets better than Simpkin & Stephens:p.
That's not that hard lol. I wouldn't say he's an elite kick, bit similar to Langford. Love everything else about him.
Kicking reminds me a bit of Tucker with the weird action when switching play.
I suspect Freo or Eagles figure out a way to get him in the mid teens anyway.

Just because he is a South Australian, why would Draper be considered a flight risk ? aren't initial contracts now 3 years ? and maybe he might enjoy playing alongside Harry, George, Colby and co.
Would be like slotting a young Sam Walsh into our midfield..
