Not sure it's the worst trade, unless we don't show any improvement next season. If we are still in the bottom 2 or 3 next season, then our issues a lot more than just tonight's trade, but if improve and perhaps climb out of the bottom six, it may be seen as good trade, especially if Richmond stay on the bottom. We won't really know until the end of next season.

But as I said earlier, it feels like we could have done this trade tomorrow night and used our future second instead of our future first.
If we are bottom 3 ldu may go and we get a top 5 pick. Which will be a debacle.

I'm going to refrain from talking about how much I don't like this trade after this post, but another reason it is so shit is that Matt Whitlock won't be helping us rise up the ladder next year.

He has at least another 7-8kg left to put on before he's at a reasonable playing size and can impact consistently at the top level.

On the positive side, the kid is genuine modern day AFL KPP height, is as athletic as you'll find at that size and can play a variety of roles in either defense or up forward.

I still hate the trade on paper, but there's a real depraved part of me that loves how ballsy it is.
Next year we trade the 2026 and 2027 F1st for a top 5 pick then go on to win 5 of the next 6 flags

People are ridiculous if they think the F2 is 19 next year.

The most probable outcome of this trade is we traded a top 5 pick for 27 & 28-30.

There’s more chance we traded a top 3 pick than pick 10-11. Based on the last 5 seasons and complete disaster of a seasons end we had where clearly our players don’t play for pride.

Get your hand off it if you think this is a good decision. What gives North Melbourne the right to have such blind faith in their ability to make the right calls? The last 10 years sure don’t

Obviously other clubs rate us more than the average footy fan. They are right on the money. I think they know we will move up next year and a f1st pick from us will not deliver value. Reading this as next years draft is rubbish with no depth and our pick after dads and spawns and academy may not even be top ten. Given our willingness to offload and no one wants it points to a very very very shallow 2025 draft.

I guess Darling makes sense now. A place holder until Whitlock is ready.

It may pay off but it's too ballsy for my liking.

He is the list manager and this is a list management stuff up of monumental proportions. We used our future first on Caleb Daniel and then called out the wrong Whitlock. If any of the coaches or recruiters were getting in his ear and encouraging him to do stupid stuff, then it's his job to tell them to pull their heads in.
Will Thursfield calls the picks. Seriously it's not all on Brady

Said it in Brady's thread, but while I don't think the paper value of the trade is necessarily right, I am glad we got rid of our future first. Others are free to disagree, and will emphatically I'm sure, but there's no hiding for anyone now. Win games of football, end of.

Yep, this whole "now there are no excuses" mantra is pure copium.

There's been no excuses for years and it hasn't mattered.

Unless people then by admission are saying Clarko has been coasting and mailing it in?

We won 3 games with a % of 63%. Like we seem to do every few years, a few of the list managers around the league would be absolutely pissing themselves at how bad that deal is.

Yeah, I’d have thought 2024 “there’s no excuses”. Not for the 8, but doing better than 2 complete embarrassments to end a 3 win season.

Clarkson (the messiah) back full time. Went out with priority picks to get senior players (lol). And we ****ed it up majorly (again) on & off field & people just go “next year is the year! Time to start winning games! No excuses”.

When did we trade F1 for Daniel?
