He is the list manager and this is a list management stuff up of monumental proportions. We used our future first on Caleb Daniel and then called out the wrong Whitlock. If any of the coaches or recruiters were getting in his ear and encouraging him to do stupid stuff, then it's his job to tell them to pull their heads in.
Melodramatic much ole champ

The probability of this working in our favour is low. Not impossible, but a long shot by most judges.

With several well rated KPFs still available logic says if we'd held fire a little longer our F2 / F3 would've come into play for one of them, without involving our F1.

I admire the optimists stoically defending it but let's be honest, before this move the overwhelming consensus had us finishing bottom 6 next year, most likely making this trade a massive overreach.

Like it or not it'll unfairly put some added pressure on the kid, fingers crossed Matt's made of the right stuff and becomes a NMFC star.

Don’t know what to think

I think that when you're entrenched at the shit end of the ladder too long and the miraculous senior coach is on a long term contract, then it becomes very easy for the whole club to back in 'long term development' too far, to the extent it compromises some decisions. We need to win games, for a multitude of reasons, not least of all because the kids who we have drafted in recent years don't just need games under their belt they need WINS under their belt. Call it copium if you want, but by removing the ephemeral hope of a high first round pick then, well, there are no excuses now.
Maybe, but this trade has nothing to do with winning games now. Whitlock is years away.

Good results.

We bring the development one year forward of a tall player.

We gain the 1st pick of the 2nd round next year. We have basically paid pick 10 in next years draft for Whitlock.

FOS will be an absolute gun.

At least we ain't Saints. Pick 8 for Travaglia.

If 2025 is as compromised as they say haven't we just given ourselves two very reasonable Rnd 2 picks to step straight back into Rnd 1?
Possibly, but I think we are potentially going to write off the 26 draft, which I think is Tassies first draft. So use as much 26 capital to get back into 25 draft. This would give us a good solid block of 5 consecutive drafts. Reckon 26 we will push finals

Strange reaction to a trade that would have surely been ticked off by more than just Brady. Unless I am much mistaken, among others in that room were Viney, Clarkson and Thursfield. Would those people have just left the decision to Brady or would they have been involved in the decision to complete that trade?

Feels terrible, no getting around this.

However,

If Richmond accepted 10 or 11 or even 18, then it may have been a straight swap. Looks like they got their guy plus the F2, so internally, they see it as a win that evolved throughout the night.

Two F2's may be used to trade back in to this year or next.

Melbourne just scored pick 9, something similar could be achieved next year with those looking for points.

Still, all this 'overpaying' is stacking the odds against us. Like adding another 0 on the roulette table that only applies to north.

Edit: option no.4 MW turns into a gun abs we ride up thr ladder next year with the trade looking gif in 5 years time.

People are ridiculous if they think the F2 is 19 next year.

The most probable outcome of this trade is we traded a top 5 pick for 27 & 28-30.

There’s more chance we traded a top 3 pick than pick 10-11. Based on the last 5 seasons and complete disaster of a seasons end we had where clearly our players don’t play for pride.

Get your hand off it if you think this is a good decision. What gives North Melbourne the right to have such blind faith in their ability to make the right calls? The last 10 years sure don’t
Irrelevant. It’s still pick 19 against everyone that’s available to us.
