Alright, fess up:
Not happening....Pick 28 if traded will be for a future first from somewhere we would need to add the F3 for any of 28-30Now lets swap our future 2nd for the tigers pick 28 and their future 3rd.
Pick up the other Whitlock and death ride the tigers to oblivion...
the 3rd question being was there better KPP available at 27There are two mutually exclusive questions here: (1) was pick 1 for pick 27 and Richmonds future 2nd round pick an optimal trade; and, (2) is Matt Whitlock a steal at pick 27.
I think it's irrelevant if we rate Whitlock at #10, as the market price was #27 and perhaps even later before we paid up.
I'm going to reserve full judgement on the first portion until after tonight, although the issue is that they could have optimised this trading a lot better.
Its interesting that people are speaking about second rounders being with a lot more next year with changes to bidding rules. That is only true if we don't trade either of the picks back into this year's "super draft".
BUT, we also can't delude ourselves into thinking late first round/early second round picks are worth more this year due to a strong draft, but also worth more next year due to changes in bidding rules. Nor can we say pick 27 was worth more given the super draft, but the pick 29 we gave away for Daniel was speculative at best.
None of it seems to make relative sense. Someone at North is a bad poker player ...
It's fake.Hope his wife is ok. That’s horrible.
The photo is. The carry on is real, even if he is overstating it. It’s unhealthy to get so wound up, and even more unhealthy for people who live with it.It's fake.
I hope it’s just this person trying be funny and not at all based on reality, if so it would be very troubling for all involved! The photo is. The carry on is real, even if he is overstating it. It’s unhealthy to get so wound up, and even more unhealthy for people who live with it.
Technically it isn't a market price at all. An efficient market requires many buyers and sellers. Whereas the draft there is only 1 buyer at each step. So working through the order, it is possible that he was ranked 2 or 3 on every clubs board (apart from Richmond's) without getting picked at 2 or 3. I know what you're saying but another consideration here is after taking a lot of high end talent, we are going to run into the constraint of the salary cap. Starting next year with sorting LDU out, McKercher with Tassie coming in, we've done well to lock Sheez and Larkey away long term. The Warden is going to need sorting, etc. as will Duursma when he starts lighting it up. We've addressed a need, and big guys generally take time and with that also buys some time in cap space. There are two mutually exclusive questions here: (1) was pick 1 for pick 27 and Richmonds future 2nd round pick an optimal trade; and, (2) is Matt Whitlock a steal at pick 27.

I guess it's too woke to ask the question as to whether jokes about domestic violence are a little on the nose.I hope it’s just this person trying be funny and not at all based on reality, if so it would be very troubling for all involved!
Not near enough....."Hey can we have 31 for our 26-27 next year"....Probably would target p31 for our own second
yeah i think itll have to be both (north and rich) f2 for 31 + f2Not near enough....."Hey can we have 31 for our 26-27 next year"....
If you haven't worked it out yet you need to overpay....
Only one team were able to get back in one pick ago & that cost a speculative top 5 pick...
3-4 clubs looking to get back in last night to no avail & will try again today with there F1st pick
Don’t think you can marry at 12Hope his wife is ok. That’s horrible.
How do you know someone in the room is anti-woke? They will tell you.I guess it's too woke to ask the question as to whether jokes about domestic violence are a little on the nose.
Defenders - Mraz, O'FarrellIF we manage to snare another pick in the 30-40 range, may I ask the keen draft observers which key position players should be on our radar?
I’ve been a big fan of OFarrell for quite some time but there seems to have been some surprises with the bigs thus far.
That's what, $1M on the old cap? Pretty easy to match for us at this stage.
Defenders - Mraz, O'Farrell
Forwards - Shanahan, J Whitlock, Sims, Stumpf, Nichols, Gerreyn
That's my limited knowledge off the top of my head.
Not having a future first in 2025 is choking you inside isn't it?..Here's a positive thought.
Richmond traded Daniel Rioli, 51, 61, F2
for
Josh Smillie & North's F1.
The fact we offered that first for every pick after 8 and it was shut down by every club, shows what they think of this draft compared to next years
At the end of the day it's probably a swap of Pick 7ish for pick 19 and Whitlock.
The way I look at it, we're all passionate and we all want the best for the club. We'll agree to disagree on this one, but I'm sure there will be plenty in the future we'll agree on
Thank you. Absolutely spot on.A poor negotiator trades based predominantly on how they value the player. A smart negotiator will anticipate what the market values that player, and will seek to strike a trade that fits the market's perception, not their own.
Just about everyone had the Whitlocks going between 20-30, with Faull and Shanahan also in that range. Logic says at least two of them ought to fall there - and as it turns out, 3 of them will have come after pick 27.
Sure, we might have valued M Whitlock at 13, but just because we do, we shouldn't corner ourselves into having to pay pick 13 value when it was clear that Whitlock (or else another KPF we rated similarly) would be available at pick 27+.
This is what makes it poor list management.
