Do first trade if bid comes

Do next trade 4, 5, 6 picks later

AFL has no say
The AFL absolutely does have a say. They have to sign off on all trades.

Now, they may let that slide through, but there’s a good chance they wouldn’t, so there’s probably a better trade option in the event a bid comes before 40.

Worth remembering the MC's willingness to drop George this year when Cerra came back - Voss already looking for ways to move past him

That wasn't it, it was to start managing plays, but was implemented way too early, which also impacted poorly on cohesion. Cerra and Hewett are also different types

I like Lord, will play a lot of footy, just don't think it's at the expense of Hewett

If I was Richmond I would trade tonights pick. Theyll get massive overs again. Could really set themselves up for next year.

You could see on the broadcast they got 4-5 phone calls with offers before they locked in that trade.

The only questions would be do they rate Whitlock or others? With Faull & Armstrong they alreayd have two young gun talls.

They have also trade one pick already. There is some genuine talent left on the table

Tigers also have quite a large number of young talls on their list who the supporters rate. They run the risk of not being able to develop them if the get any more. They haven't replaced Rioli, Bolton or Baker with like for like with what they have got in.

Yep. Voss tried to play Cerra and Cottrell into form in the seniors and started playing around with Hewett/Kennedy as subs etc. which stuffed cohesion as Cerra and Cottrell struggled to get anywhere near their best.

Need to select players on their merits and make them earn their place in the team.

The trade out and in scenario will be some thing like

Bid at 38.

Trade 40 to a club for a future 2nd. This will be to a club who has a player in mind. Maybe with some later pick shifting

Match

Trade the future 2nd to another club with a pick a bit further down, probably with a future 3rd coming back.

Maybe Saints to get ahead of the Hoffman bid

I think Lords hairstyle alone should get him some games.

Simply glorious head of hair.

Just wondering if Essendon may potentially be a trade partner tonight?

There's probably holes in this scenario, but could we entice them to a trade up in the event that there's a bid on Ben? Basically, it eliminates them as a candidate to bid given they currently have picks 37 and 39. If there's a bid on Ben, we offer them pick 40 for their future 3rd - then trade back in their pick 43 for our future 3rd.

They may or may not like it, but pick 40 puts them ahead of Sydney and Geelong - and gives them back to back picks at #39 and #40.

Two things.

Can we stop referring to Lampo as Lucas? I’m getting flashbacks to 2009 and they’re not all great.

Also, can we stop saying sliders? It’s making me hungry.

TIA.

I am a bit concerned about George. Heck of a player but his leg speed and poor kicking could become an issue. With a fit Cerra & Walsh to support Cripps, Smith coming in, Lord stepping up plus Elijah & Docherty improving (Ben Campo) there will be pressure on to hold his spot

IMO he needs a big pre season to make his spot a certainty as we now have genuine options

Exactly. Surround Cripps with Cerra, Walsh, now Smith, Doc, Ollie, Ellijah, Blakers, Williams and the half back runners and let’s run and carry……

Wilson, Boyd, Saad of HB :cool::cool::cool:

Love to see Durdin get really fit and have some midfield minutes as well. Add some zip

While I absolutely hope we have access to a Shanahan, Mraz, Baratt or Dennis.

If there are some sliders, I’m not convinced Pick 40 is a lock for a KPP. Specially with DGB, Durdin and McMahon as train on options.

The sliders mostly appear to be the talls, don't they?

I think well take a KPP with our next pick (40 or a bit later if we need to flip some picks around), unless we've got our eye on a KPP we think is going to be there in the rookie draft.

That it would be part of a 2-part trade.
Why would Brisbane trade #47 for junk picks they’re not going to use?

Because they may not see a player at that level that they like and gained the player they wanted at pick 40?

AFL couldn't overrule that trade, considering others that have gone through
