One more possibility is the bid comes in quite early and we can ONLY match with 38.

Quite unlikely, but it is a possibility.

In general I think we will probably get to use 38 at the draft.

Otherwise trade it for a Future 2nd and then back in is my guess

Good thing St Kilda‘s picks are 7, 8, 32, 47.

Earliest bid from SOS would be #32 you’d think which we could cover using later picks - after trading #38 for a F2.

I doubt he is for us, but Lalor is fascinating. Where do you draft a bloke whose floor is maybe Zurhaar and could have a ceiling in the Dusty range. His highlights are great. I have doubted his body of work, but in fairness his injury issues could have impacted as much as FOS or Draper.

The professional recruiters will have more insight, but being linked to Pick 1, is a big vote of confidence.

IMO, Lalor is a level or two above the rest.

Draper

An earlier article said we're possibly looking at Charlie West, and our recruiters are heading over to SA to have a chat with him. No doubt they would have popped in to visit Draper for a cuppa while they were there - so there's a chance the HUN article today may have blown things out of proportion a wee tad.

Our recruiters would have interviewed all the potential players around pick 3 on a number of occasions. Even last year, they headed down to the Mornington Peninsula to interview Billy on more than one occasion.

Why do you rate Smith so low?

It's not really that i rate Smith low. I see it more that i rate Reid, Lyndsay and Travaglia a bit higher than most. I think the quality this year is great for future AFL players.

Reid can do it all imo. Gets the ball, uses it really smartly, isn't slow, kicks and sets up goals, and to top it off is a big moments player.

Lyndsay has a left leg weapon and stepped right up at every level.

Travaglia has the eye of the tiger imo. Is good overhead and a powerful runner. Could very well be a very good No2 mid or a Vlastuin quality defender.

And i like Smith as an accumulater. Have a slight doubt on hurt factor. But he could very well be very good at the next level too.

Top crop of mid types.

Not unless he becomes a goal kicking mid, I struggle to see the value he brings to our side without it.
Fair enough

I think his hands at ground level combined with his elite speed and agility is game breaking.

Also think he would instantly be our best pressure mid. Goal kicking I agree would be handy, in that case FOS is your man
