Just outlaw the slide for any player with the ball...you either run out of bounds or take the tackle. Thatll keep QBs more honest/circumspect to leave the pocket or cross the LOS. And it'll mean i guess RBs cant take the slide to keep the clock running instead of scoring the TD.

If a QB cannot slide then you will definitely see less instances of a defender hitting the head of a QB because of that split second decision to slide just a couple yards distance from each other.

Actually, better idea ...

Just call any slide by a ball carrier as not giving themselves up. Have to be down by contact or defenders can place their hand on the slider for end of forward progress

I think the slide is well established in the game now, I don't think defenders have a excuse anymore for wiping out a QB like what happened to Lawrence.

Moot point about the slide Lawrence had no chance the defender led with his forearm anyways he was going to hurt someone. He slide and he gets taken head high don't slide and its a broken leg or busted knee. Al-Shaair is just a dirty player thought that when he was on my 49ers and doubly do now. I hate Salah and gm defending him cos if it happened to Stroud they would be ropable.

When a QB slides, and late, officials and coaches advise players to fly over the top of them and lead with the hands to avoid the head and shoulders hitting the QB in the head.

A tough offense to move into. Between Lamar/Henry/Flowers/Andrews/Likely etc. You're essentially fighting with Agholor for 2-3 targets a game.

Coaches would absolutely not accept a rule that required a ball carrier to start making arm signals while running.

Technically they would no longer be running as they enter the slide & signal. Maybe giving the defender the finger could work...
