I am actually the most worried about the forward line. We need to kick goals to win games and last years effort was nowhere near good enough.

We got smashed by rebound defenders like Sicily and Andrews.

We were the worst in the comp converting inside 50's to scoring shots.

Just banking on King, Owens, and Membrey being good players and available for selection isn't going to cut it. We need better structures from the forwards, and better strategies for delivery inside 50.
Must admit I was surprised Harvey still holds the forward coaching role…thought he’d get the mids and Goddard the forwards

We had a few like that who never went on. Dean Greig had 39 in his first game.
He still put together a few games in the 30's , played a blinder up in Sydney when we came back from about 6 goals down at 3/4 time

Can someone get Wilson some proper kit? 🤣

Nice to see Hill and Stocker very closely working with and encouraging him. He’s paired with Hilly in most competitive drills, and Stock is breaking down the outcomes with him while they’re waiting for the next shot.

Stocker seems like a ripping character, hope he can squeeze that last bit of juice available from his talent and really entrench himself in our back 6 for a long time to come, maybe even get some midfield minutes.

He’s built like an absolute concrete pillbox, especially in the lower half.

Genuinely decent bloke too, by the looks/sound of it. Real Mason Wood-type operator.

One month of 2024 down so time to straighten up this thread I think, let's try to keep it on topic going forward. Cheers
Narc.

I've been re-watching a few 2023 games lately and l definitely want Stocker to stay in the team, though he still needs to improve to do that long term.
Clark the other. Very underrated in retrospect.

I hope we'll see that Ross has been drilling this type of forward entry movement.
especially into Ross,or do we just give him a licence for the long bombs?because his pass attempts have seen me bolt down the remote control to the coffee table,so no more find their way inside the screen of the tv with velocity

This kid has something.

But injuries are preventing him from putting a solid block of it together.

🤞 he gets a good run this year
Honestly so far today from what I’ve seen he’s impressed me the most

Then to do a mark like that on top of hammer who’s 196cm.. wowee

Angus McLennan just used Hammer as an absolute step ladder 🪜
Was about a metre away from me. Could have reached out and caught him.

Absolutely massive grab.

Hammer’s surprised “F#%k ME!” was pretty funny.

Gonna head down to training for the first time. Moved here 6 weeks ago and work can get f*cked today. So any member of the public all good to just mosey on in even on a non open training day? I'll try provide a report for Yas to the best of my ability.

Yeah mate, anyone can roll in. Looking forward to a report!

Very preliminary notes…

Happy to answer questions.

  • Dow off to the DFC for rehab. Didn’t train at all.
  • Arie a very big (built) boy. Moves pretty smoothly. Only ran laps.
  • Collard, Hotton, and Henry just doing goalkicking early. All joined in the later drills.
  • Crouch had pretty heavy strapping on his left knee.
  • Irishman got a ton of one-on-one coaching.
  • Allison an insane athlete. As has been said plenty, jury still out if he’s an AFL footballer. Like the Irishman, got a lot of one-on-one advice.
  • Two-part kicking to an I-50 lead drill was good. Quite clear to me that Pou is being used as a conduit between midfield and deep forward; expect him to roam a bit this year.
  • Lenny was the coach the in-close evasiveness drills; pretty good bloke to learn from.
  • Chito and Battle only have one speed… FULL KILL.
  • Hunter still more or less built like a pool noodle, but bizarrely strong, especially through the hips.
  • Paton is clearly being used as a defensive/run-with mid.
  • Half ground attacking drill; Moose not clunking marks in the drill, but keeping Wilkie very honest and halving the contest.
  • Hill, Bonner, Sinclair, NWM, Hunter and Pou are being used as the primary ball-movers.
  • Stocker is extremely vocal in drills. Very much a defensive “general” type.
  • Irishman has an impressively natural kicking action.
  • No Campbell or Marshall sighting.
  • McLennan took an absolute SCREAMER over Hammer right in front of me. Absolute MOTY type. 😳
  • Lastly…
the king has returned GIF

I think I read he jarred his knee and there were initially concerns it might have been an ACL which luckily turned out to not be the case.

The post I read was quoting an earlier post and didn't specifically name him so I may be getting my wires crossed.

Thanks, I think if it was an ACL we would have heard something in the news.

Hopefully he'll be back soon.

Didn’t have any strapping or bracing on the knee, and seem to be walking fairly normally.

I know that’s not necessarily determinative of anything, but it looked more like he was being managed, than something seriously drastic.
