We had the opportunity to go to the market and pick up 2 or 3 delisted or fringe players via trade to supplement our list but we decided to take 4 in the draft. I see this as a penny pinching measure as much as a look to the future player strength.

The list as it stands has quite a few others that would be on minimal contracts. Smith, Lane, Michael, Joyce previous draftees, etc. I don't see players on the fringe such as Prior, Ah Chee, Madden, Tunstill on unreasonable money. We also have players like Zorko, Lyons, Lester that would be on reasonable cash likely to finish with the club after this season. There are also ageing players like Joe, Charlie, Linc, Neale on bigger money that have 2-3yrs left.

I believe our salary cap is being managed very well. As we evolve I think there is plenty of scope to accommodate the contract increases of Clugg, Bailey, Rayner, Payne, Ashcroft, Fletcher, Wilmot, etc as time requires.

I also think that, if the team is as close as projected, players will sacrifice some cash to remain and attain continued success. Like Geelong has done.

Awesome, thank you! I know it's early days, but how are some of our younger forwards looking, like Henry Smith and Kalin Lane? I feel like we don't debut them quickly to the AFL side (compared to more agile role players), so it would be interesting to know how they're getting on with a few preseasons and VFL years under their belts?

Was just watching the Dubai Inivitational and some Sony Open and noticed out rd17 game against west coast is currently on. Superb watching. Did any of our forwards kick a bag that day 😎

That is clearly offensive. The "Weight" police will be on to you.

Looks like that game was being shown at an appropriate time slot. Maybe a couple of hours early come to think of it.

Jarrod Berry doesn’t look to have the body shape of a 7 year player. It looks like he hasn’t done any upper body weight training at all. I know he has had shoulder issues so presumably that is the reason but he certainly doesn’t appear to have the strength to be a regular midfielder. Must be very frustrating for him to be limited like that.

Possibly his efforts involved with running that marathon before Christmas may have also contributed.
