Stewart has disappeared out of everybodies backline what am I missing? Good bye and is a proven SuperCoach legend
Not mine …. ignore Stewart at your peril …. he has such a high ceiling …. he will remain in my DEF …. and it’s a formidable defence

I’d show you it to you …. but i’m not seeking rapturous panting / drooling

Not across it, but assume some minor fears of chip stealing via Max Holmes, but mostly because it seems like every person and their canine companion is going Daicos and Sheezel, with Young basically a lock and a fair few on Houston we have a problemwith the early AO-heavy draw, plus Zilliams D5 and some rook at D6 .

Scoops' sore shoulders from carrying this forum, tbh. Judd areas. But Scoops remains humble.

Might be time to get Leading Teams in here :moustache:

Stewart vs Daicos (RD0) - very close call for me - Daicos won

I shuffled things about earlier and put him in. All premo forwards have question marks on them so I downgraded Jackson to a rookie and upgraded Z.Williams to Stewart. Will be better off to begin with I reckon and can work on forwards over the season and bring in the best one's as they reveal themselves...

decided to take out lazarro hustwaite and windsor for a campbell mannagh(maybe cadman instead?) and sharp so i could have fisher and jordan in. feel like picking the rookies that played r0 for that early price rise and then potentially trading them(based on performance) for a more premium rookie could be a good idea? with the 40 trades feel like could go a bit more aggressive early on to generate some cash

the choice of cheaper rookies are still undecided but just a framework at the moment

what do you guys think?

Honestly, great looking side. My only concerns would really be:
  • Defense is a bit skinny with two of the rooks on field, but if we don't get more mid rookies named, plenty will go this way I'd imagine
  • Don't love the Jackson pick tbh. You're picking him for the whole season at that price, and playing with Darcy, his SP is very limited. Not sure if it's worth it for 3-4 weeks.
  • Green is an absolute gun, but has two byes before most mids have one. Have him pencilled in as an upgrade target personally, but it might be OK with your structure.
  • Not 100% sold on Martin without having the DPP locked away, plus Essendon have a bunch of rebounding types. Should be able to correct if needed though.

Really value your opinion so keen to explore your thoughts on Jackson further. Not completely sold (as I hate key position players that are not first ruck) but have currently selected him. Absolutely agree you don't pick a premium player for 4 weeks of scoring, even with the extra trades.

But, have dug a little deeper and found this:

Jackson's career averages so far - '20 - 58, '21- 72 (+14), '22 - 85 (+13), '23 - 98 (+13).

Obviously improvement is not guaranteed to be as (ridiculously) linear as his has been but the point is he is a young developing player that has gotten better every year - I can't see him going backwards.

Then I looked closer at last season and noticed/remembered that last season he struggled to fit in at his new club at first (remember the threads asking if it was the worst ever trade early in the season?) and after 7 rounds he averaged just 79. From there, however, he really found his role and averaged 106 across the last 16 rounds of the season.

I thought I'd better look at with Darcy vs without and whilst without Darcy is obviously a lot stronger (118), he still averaged 94 with Darcy from Round 8 onwards (this average is 103 if you exclude his horror game against the Bulldogs but you can't do that). These stats include 8 games with and 8 without.

94 is indeed not exactly SP territory (and he's priced at 98) but it is the forward line (where he is still very likely to be a top 6 forward) and he has DPP status. There's also every chance Darcy misses more games throughout the year but I agree you can't really pick someone hoping for injuries to others.

Was there anything else I missed putting you off this selection?

I wish we could go back to the days of 20 trades.

The game would become far more strategic.

Got to say, I love that everyone is dumping Gawn.

1 crazy practice match and everybody that doesn't have him, gets him in. One quiet round and everybody is culling him.

Leaving aside that Grundy had a clear and effective plan that won't work for many others, you just know Gawn is going to smash out a ridiculous score in the next few weeks and start making max cash to put him out of reach for those that went elsewhere.

No guarantees but in case you need a refresher on Gawn's round 1's as sole ruck:

2022 R1: 92, End of Year (EOY) ave: 113
2021 R1: 93, EOY: 121
2020 R1: 93, EOY: 140
2019 R1: 87, EOY: 128

Every other year people have whinged about getting Gawn after round 1 - hopefully with this round 0 crap, people jump off.

So it seems that after the games on the weekend, most people seem to be falling for the points chasing trap.
No way of knowing. Pencil neck has ****ed up yet again and frozen all the ownership percentages on the website. Hasn’t moved since Syd vs Melb.

What say you Nelso?

Swapped Houston to him today.

Just wanted another 'safe' pick.

Rozee, Newcombe and D'Ambrosio all around that 10% ownership. That's enough risk for now.

Has literally been one of three players who have never left my team. The other two being Gawn and Touk.

What are your suggestions?
This is my latest team. I’m concerned I don’t have some of the rookies that will make me cash. Do I have too many mid pricers and not enough cash cows?

Thanks

Love the look of my team a lot more swapping McKercher for Jarryd Lyons. Surely Fages gives him an extended run after a very strong opening round performance? Team high tackles and 19 disposals. Would be very stiff to lose his spot, at the very least before a price rise.
