And Freo posters tried saying he used to be a squib 😂 spare me
Not sure there's been a better impact bargain pickup than him in recent years.

Might not put up AA numbers but his impact in big and close games in the biggest moments is just immense.

Gulden, Heeney, J.Daicos, N.Daicos, Bont,Warner, Merret are his general mids in the team.

Only Blue is Curnow, but to be honest I'd have McKay over Curnow in my AA right at this minute. Even Weitering didn't get a show in, but of course Andrews, Jones and Stewart have. Jones has been consistent but Andrews and Stewart bar their wins have been ordinary. Weiters missed a few due to injury but bar 2 of his games where he's been a little off has been clearly above those 2 in output over the course of the year.
Remember Callum Wilkie was AA last year says everything about AA selection and selectors

OK, first of all, **** yeah that was a great win!

Next, get it out of the way....umpiring. Felt it was still inconsistent at the best of times. But my biggest issue is that in setting a very clear checkbox for holding the ball (ie. arm free = you need to dispose of it legally) they're now painting themselves into a corner as well. Case in point, the fourth quarter HTB against Walsh. Had no prior, grabbed the ball and was immediately wrapped up by two opponents, one from either side. He's got the ball in one hand, and that arm free, but his other arm is held and each opponent has one of his legs clamped between theirs. There is no way he can legally dispose of that ball. He can't even go to ground. Now, if he'd had prior I wouldn't care, good tackle, pay it, away we go. But in the same way a player who is tackled to the ground and pinned gets some leniency on HTB, the umpires should be able to assess whether a player has any actual avenue to legal disposal. Legal disposal requires two limbs, having three held means you've got no option.

Moving on though - super bloody stoked with Williams up forward. Will refrain from digging up my old posts calling for it, but hey....I did call for it :p

Cincotta a brilliant role player. Have also put his name forward as a high forward option, but having him in a run-with role is just as good if it takes him there on occasion.

Everyone's spoken at length about Cripps, TDK etc. and I can't add much more. If the club were "unsure" on our best ruck setup, I hope they're starting to lean towards TDK + forwards rather than the two-ruck philosophy.

Oh, and Elijah - he's ostensibly a forward, but jeez I love him as a target coming out of the backline. Clean hands, cool under pressure, great vision - I think as he builds maturity and confidence with the team he's going to become a key part of our transition game.

Lastly - just want to say that it seems we learned a very important lesson from the Collingwood loss. Tried to defend a lead for a whole quarter and blew it. This game we damn near doubled our score from 3QT to FT. Good to recognise that in those situations the opposition has nothing to lose by playing attacking footy. But if they're throwing caution to the wind it will often open up a lot of opportunities for us to score heavily the other way. Best way to stop a team kicking 4 goals to overtake you is to kick 4 yourself and put it beyond their reach. Against Port, we didn't just match them, we buried them so comprehensively they were never going to be able to bridge the gap.

Great point well made
And hopefully that is a turning point in the psyche of our group
When your foot is on the oppositions throats, you stomp as hard as you can until the final siren blows

My pies mates wouldn't have J daicos anywhere near it this year.

AMAZING 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻

Awesome win
Zac is providing what we have been missing.
Saad steadied up the backline

Port are going nowhere when they have the equivalent of 3 Lewis Youngs in their backline. Their talls all slow movement out of defence that 3 elite kicks can't overcome. The ZT turnover sealed the game

Lots to like but the adjustment of the half backline to leave their man and close down the advancing and or loose ball really shut down their space and lifted the pressure rating. Also the guys behind rotating much better. No hesitation just going with commitment.

I thought the umpiring was fine. Was expecting a complete SS. Measured the umpiring by my personal heck meter. Normally plus 150 last night a very calm under 20

a couple of bits of the puzzle seem to have fallen into place. williams adding an extra couple of goals, will need to be paid attention by defenders. it will allow someone else to get off the chain.
cincotta has added some stopping power. normally something hewett might have done but has an extra yard.
not an out and out tagger like our franchina/joseph's (steven baker), and not yet a carrazzo/curnow/kane cornes, stop your man, get it yourself 30 times. but could become that if he continues to be given roles. has shown he can be damaging at least.

Is Cripps AA Captain this year? (Acknowledging that Darcy Moore also a real contender...)

No one comes close to Cripps and don’t get me started on Merret not it the same hemisphere

It was a win full of spirit and determination. Loved it. It demonstrated we can play in different ways depending on what the opposition throw at us.

Our front half game looks much better with Williams and Fogarty in there, and Saad back.

Still have concerns with decision making from Boyd and Kemp, who were perhaps a bit too agressive at times.

Walsh is relentless, his ability to get from contest to contest is unbelievable.

Be fair to him - go see how many times they kicked it to his advantage -- to get the most out of that third tall you need good ball use going inside 50.
Also taking marks wasn his job. Look at how often he's keeping a defender from getting to the contest to be third man up.
