, and I do not think they’ll be able to trap us in back half the way they have other sides.

I agree. We have too many avenues for an exit from the backline. As long as there is movement ahead of the ball, and our backline have options, we'll get out of there regularly.

Pearce will take Harry I
Lot of support here for Draper...may take Charlie?
Ryan can handle anyone, master of swing.
Pearce for Mckay is the obvious one. I think Draper on Curnow but I honestly think dropping Banfield back so Ryan doesn't have to split his time trying to intercept between Curnow and McKay.

Walker & Clarke can take smalls with one of Hughes and Banfield coming off their man to cover the contest. Put Aish as a defensive winger outlet in place of banners on the wing.

Sweeet!
Said the spider to the flies.

I'm torn on that one.

History suggests when Pittonet's in the middle our clearance game is #1. We've haven't been a clearance dominant side this year.

But for Carlton to play two rucks one needs to rest forward. Pittonet can't. And when TDK does it's been mixed results.

No doubt the club will experiment again at some point this year.

🤷‍♂️

Reckon the playing forward bit is the issue (Pitt has hard hands and TDK gets in the way) with Voss happy to perhaps not be as dominant in the middle but take advantage of TDK's better around the ground game.

Having said that TDK is getting after it post tap but perhaps not yet quite as physical as Pitt. Given the aerobics required these days I can see the attraction TDK offers.

WTF is going on....now we've got oppo supporters having their own discussions about matchups on our gameday thread? Is the atmosphere on your board so dire that you can't hang out there anymore?
Trust me theres more logic on here than there... They reckon Serong and Brayshaw are going to 'bully' Cripps and Cerra despite being half the size of each :tearsofjoy:

Freo posters quoting each other

It's a thought, early in his career he was tracking as being an elite wingman before we switched him on the ball.

At one stage it looked straight forward, he changes for Carroll. But now it's not IMO because Carroll has been good enough in that role to potentially retain it.

You have Cottrell who's form is mediocre, good enough to hold a spot but not good enough to keep a form/high grade player out. Hollands on the wing is the same and Kennedy as a forward is the same.

So all of a sudden there are multiple players who could make way for Walsh. I think it will be out of Carroll, Kennedy, Cottrell or Hollands. Lets see who plays well over the next week or so.

Think it might be Carroll, started well but has dropped away but plenty to work with there moving forward.

Walsh's break away from stoppages last year was/is compelling.

Kennedy has been an interesting watch, reckon he's more mid forward then forward mid but could make way for Jack M is he can get on the park.

They will use Draper on Charlie and try to free up Ryan to intercept

I'd be playing through whoever Ryan goes to and drag him out or take him to the square

Ryan is bloody smart, along the same lines as Stewart and Lever. It could be the opposite idea of playing a defensive forward on him to halve the contest. Not sure how to deal with Ryan, I would have loved Martin forward, he is an actual dangerous forward as well.

Just hoping whoever is on Clark can shut his run and carry down, he's been super important for the Dockers as well.

Freo last week were really poor with regards to moving forward, it was just the fact Adelaide's kicking skills were even worse. Pearce had a day out as well, not sure he will be able to do the same thing against a McKay.

I know Draper has had a great start to his career, but Charlie may be on a different level. I do agree with your statement, Ryan is an issue and it will be important that we potentially play through whoever Ryan is on to keep him accountable.
To be honest, I just hope they halve the contest with Ryan and our forward half pressure will be too much for your team.

Your footskills last week were poor, you just got lucky Adelaide's skills were even worse.

I love having opposition supporters come over, it is nice having some banter rather than just high fiving each other.

Given McKay's doing the backup work we get the added benefit of an extra runner in the best 22.

Can't remember the last genuine contender who ran with two proper tap ruckman.

If Grundy & Gawn can't make it work I'm not sure we can either.

The problem with Gawn and Grundy was the fact both are ruck first players.

TDK does seem to have potential forward, just seems to have concrete hands at times. Pitto is purely a ruck.

Gawn and Jackson are both no.1 rucks and Melb won with them...key is both a pretty decent forwards and of course Gawn is the best ruck in the comp.

Yep you’re right.

You’re on your own.

I’d like to give Pitto a crack just to see whether our centre bounce/clearance game can get back close to what it was last year….and still be top 2 on the turnover game.

Let TDK play the SOS role for a couple of weeks.

Just think it’s not a coincidence our scores from clearances are 4 goals down from last year with Pitto missing

No one will beat us if we were top 2 for both clearance and turnover goals.

Didn’t realise we had such a crappy record at AO

You might be surprised to learn Carlton has never won a game at Adelaide Oval. The Blues are 0-7 at the venue and last year, to open Gather Round, were humiliated by the Crows. If Michael Voss' side is actually legit in 2024, it has to become an 'any time, any place' team

I’m more surprised we’ve only played 7 times there than we’ve never won, Melbournes played there 17 times and the next closest to us is 11 times.

Think our SA blues brothers are getting stitched up big time
