Alright, that's enough.

How Petracca and Van Royan can take uncontested marks in the last 10 minutes I can’t comprehend. Kemp needs to learn when to spoil. When for the low percentage mark as third man and Petty marked it. Just dumb football. People keep saying he’s young and he will learn, but it happens every week. He isn’t learning from his mistakes. Do they even revue games now. Because it’s the same **** ups every ****ing week.

Sure but Melbourne were much cleaner as the game went on in the same conditions.

Some teams are just better in those conditions. It's one thing that harder to train for.

No excuse for not being more composed and having a plan to control a game better than we did once we got up.

First quarter showed we can do it. Much of the rest of the game showed we struggle to maintain it.

Cincotta kept Pickett quite - important win there
Seriously that dude just slots straight in, feels like he's way more experienced than he actually is. Am a fan.

Our strategy in the final term to hold the lead was deplorable. We were lucky to survive it. Going long down the line straight at May, Gawn and Lever, in open contradiction to what has worked all ****ing match instead of going at angles, short kicks, switching; using that we have multiple genuinely elite endurance options across the park to stretch their mids across the G.

I'm simultanously relieved and frustrated. We knew they'd ****ing come for us, but they had no right to get that close. They completely reversed our clearance dominance and we kept handing the ball back on a silver platter; panicking, stressed, tired minds unused to winning. I don't even think they trust themselves to know what to do, so often they're holding back the dam late in games.

Matt Owies, if you can play like that more often you're twice the player you've been to this point. Cez going off ****ing hurt us, badly; Hewitt despite his goal didn't make any sort of a difference. Hollands keeps finding a way to get caught, but this was genuinely a return to the player we saw last year. Gov and Martin made a difference to our structures. Elijah has just a sublime ability to find space where there simply isn't any, and Weitering is in such form. If Durdin is not faster than Jake ****ing Lever why the **** is he playing, and why the **** is he flying for the same ball that Harry or TDK were going for, and why was Cripps imitating a circus performer the way he spent the entire second half juggling the ball?

In addition to seeking some clarity from the umps last week as to what constitutes HTB, it might also be an idea to ask the umps what constitutes a fair ****ing mark, because there were a good 5 marks we took in that game that went unpaid.

It should also be said that the last time the two teams played, Melbourne thought they had the flag on a platter. They were arguably the form team in the comp going into finals when we embarrassed them in the dying minutes of that match. They are still an intensely capable football team - if anything, they're better than they were last year - and they would've looked up at the scoreboard at three quarter time and ground their teeth. That, that term right there: that was their best shot. They'll never be as hard at it, never be better or more dominant or want it more. That's as hard as they'll ever be to beat.

And it still wasn't enough.

We have a lot of improvement to do, but this is a win we needed, desperately.

Carn, the Blues!

I was waiting for someone to bob up and ice that for us. Still waiting... Made it harder than it should have been, great first quarter though. Not one for the pool room, but 4 points. Petracca kept them in it on his own. We looked a lot better in defence with Gov back, Kemp did well and Cincotta some good efforts. Take it, on to the Swannies.

Great game by owies - 3 goals and effort and pressure acts were terrific
Genuinely one of my highlights of the game. Didn't stop chasing and was running thriugh blokes to take them down or get the ball. Not the mention the goals.

One of our best.

Thiugt Ollie had his best game of 2024 but **** me if he doesn't need to speed the hell up when he's making decisions by foot. Absolutely killing us.

Actually quite annoyed after that, the whole last quarter really. Let them into it, umps helped them, stopped attacking and it was just so bloody predictable. Very lucky to win. Hate playing not to lose.

But take the 4 points and move on. Quickly.
