Clark is miles clear of Ryan. In my backline atm. Ryan can make the SuperCoach team of the year but not a player you want in the All-Australian.

McKay has been 10x better and even he would be borderline squad if not out by now.
They aren’t picking 7 key forwards in the squad just to fit Treacy in. He has only kicked multiple goals 6 times in half a season.
And play a different position.
Serong and Clark are the two Freo players I'd have as having the best chance of being in the final 22. Ryan is a huge chance. Would it be surprising if the best defence in the league has two players?

Doubt there’s that many key forwards, they tend to name two to 3 mids who are picked forward (ie Bont and Petracca)

They won’t care about it, I would expect Taylor and Weitering to be the talls, then you have your one or two loose ones, Ryan, Stewart, etc would be going for that type. Weiteribg probably deserves a selection having been unlucky the last couple of years

Weitering has never made the team. He is well overdue.
Can see this.
Hard to argue with Heeney, Warner not being pushed in.
Dylan Moore would need to kick 50+ and be close to get recognition unfortunately. Generally the top 2 goal kickers and maybe one added- Happened last season with Curnow, Walker and Larkey.
You're not the best defence by points allowed though. I guess the second best defence might get two I guess.

Weitering has been brilliant again. Only concern is missing the first three games but that will be forgotten by the time the team is released.

Weitering should’ve been in last season. He ll get in this season if Carlton make top 2-4.

Weitering needs to lift his performances this year to get in. Right now he's just stopping his opponent but not getting involved enough around the ground in intercepting.

I mean our defence shat on yours a few weeks ago and kept you to 39 at home . I wouldn't think freos defence is a patch on ours this year so far.

The person i quoted claimed points against is the measure of defence though , mind you 1 of those were rushed (edit was mixed up with diff game sorry). Like I said I wouldn't measure it that way.

Using a game where inaccuracy was the only reason up until 3 quarter time you were ahead in a game where there might have been a reason why we were distracted.
A patch. Wow. Big footy never surprises me but gee whizz. Feel free to argue that you think Sydney's defence is better but it's sort of indisputable that Freo has had one of the best defences in the league.

Walsh shouldn't be near the team, he has been very good but surely they can find 10 better mids than him. Would need a massive back half of the season.

Patch arrogant ? says the guy who said his team was the best defence in the league. I literally said I wouldn't use it just pointed out if you are we are still first not freo.
I don't disagree that Freo have a good defence. They do for sure, but to this point i'd argue it's not the best in the league .
Anyway doesn't matter probably neither side will get a defender in, except maybe Blakey
I know every teams nuffies come on here promoting their own players.

Please don’t say Ben McKay - guy was taken to the cleaners this avo by King. He’s decent, but nothing like Alex Pearce has been.

Pearce has barely lost a contest all season. He’s utterly dominated practically every opponent he’s come up against. He’s been IMMENSE and quite frankly miles ahead of any other contender for the Key defensive posts.
Not to mention the clutch goal that was kicked y him when swung forward last Friday v the pies.
From the first game of the season he’s been elite.
I can understand other freo contenders like Clark and Ryan still being marginal or debatable for an AA jacket at this stage.
Hell - even Serong is competing with some hot competition for a midfield spot, as good as he’s been.
But anyone who thinks theres been two key defenders better than Alex Pearce this year either has barely watched him play, or doesn’t know football.
